Wildcat Safety issue.

I saw another post mention the safety not functioning on his .25 Wildcat. What I have found on mine is it was not working when I got it the safety lever rotates 90* and does not travel far enough to be in safe position, when it does not work it is in line with the barrel the little knob must be at 90* to the barrel to engage. I have not removed my stock yet to see what is going on. I am guessing I am not the only person who has experienced this. I was really taken back when I thought my gun was on safe but would still fire.

Here are a couple pictures I took today.

This is how it should look.

This is how mine came out of the box and I began using it this way it will not go into safe position but does move in that direction and look to be on safe.

What I found today is after the gun is discharged and before it is re-cocked if you try and put it on safe it turns sideways like this and then does not function properly until it is rotated back to 90* like in the first picture.

Mine, in the UK came with the following notice from the importer:

....
...REALLY important

(then in red capitals)
*THE SAFETY CATCH ON THIS RIFLE IS DESIGNED TO ENGAGE ONLY WHEN THE GUN IS COCKED.
THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE, SO PLEASE DO NOT FORCE THE SAFETY CATCH IF THE GUN IS UNCOCKED

* NEVER, EVER, FIRE THE GUN WITHOUT AIR IN THE RESERVOIR OR AN AIR BOTTLE ATTACHED

....

....

What may seem a bit of a downer, is actually an opportunity.

If you are half way through a magazine and cannot remember whether or not your gun is cocked, very gently push the safety catch.
If it moves very easily, the gun is cocked. If there is some resistance, it is not. - DO NOT FORCE IT - as above, the safety does not engage when uncocked.
This test, when there is doubt, is a guard against double loading.

You could test how this works on your own gun YMMV etc.

If you've been forcing the safety on an uncocked WC, you should beak the habit and probably make sure your safety is still operating correctly when cocked.

"Gundog"My gun did not come from AOA it came from Straight Shooters. But I think this is a design flaw that should be addressed..
I pretty sure AOA is the sole importer of FX in the US, then distributes them to the other dealers...that being said AOA should have caught that before shipping it out. AOA mentioned testing each gun before shipping.

Fx had a post in the manufacturer's feed back section of this forum, that leads me to believe trigger adj has potential to interfere with safety function, maybe check there.
Sorry for not posting link, I'm mobile.
Also if this doesn't help, you should post your concern in manufacture feedback.Johann has been very active and helpful with other issues!

That's not how it works, sorry. The burden is solely on FX... they are in charge of Quality Control.
