Wildcat or matador

DHow do I spend my hard earned money fix wildcat or edgun matador

~~~~~~~~~~
I have not yet had the pleasure of owning an EDgun. Owners of this gun do rave about it.
However, I can tell you that the FX Wildcat is the "Gold Standard" in Bullpups.
Compact, lightweight, powerful, accurate and trouble-free. What's not to like about this .25 caliber thumper?
EDgun for me hands down, I've owned both. My Matador was an R3M so I don't know about the R5M but IMO the R3M was/is a better gun then the wildcat I owned (mk1 .22). To me there is something odd about the way the R5M looks but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe the huge elephant trunk shroud I don't know but it just doesn't appeal to me much so I'll probably never get one.
I have a Wildcat .25 mk1 with a Athlon Argos 2-24 btr and a Hugget installed. Absolutely love it! Fits just right, completely trouble free and smacking a 1" spinner at 80yds is EASY.
I got to shoot an R5M once. I liked it. It looked to be well built and shot accurately (shot @ 30yds). It also has some very nice features. The one negative I took away from shooting it was just how loud it was at your ear. I found the hammer strike on the valve to be a bit too loud for my liking.
Hey Joe. I have a first-generation wildcat in 25. Fantastic gun. I also own a Edgun R5 in 30 caliber. Another fantastic gun. Between the two I like the Edgun better. You can't go wrong with either of them. But my favorite is a Kalibrgun Cricket in 25. if you're in South Eastern Michigan before you buy one let me know you can shoot all of them if it helps make up your mind
Both rifles are awesome guns and very accurate. Both have great reviews. Wildcat wins out in price and weight. Matador wins out in power especially in the .25. Breakdown and maintenance goes to the Matador. I am on the fence myself in this dilemma between the Wildcat, Bobcat, and Matador in .25. Depending on the day I lean towards each one. Trying really hard not to look at any other Bullpups. Great comments on the Mutant and Vulcan as well. I believe you can't go wrong with either one. Get the Wildcat in .22 and the Matador in .25; that would solve the problem.....LOL
Best of luck
The new FX AMP regulator that's now standard on all Wildcats seems to be spot on for consistency. My Wildcat .25 compact has nearly zero deviation and with their twist barrels, it shoots everything in one ragged whole outside of minor scope adjustments.
I spent the better part of a year researching every compact type pcp there was before finally picking the FX Wildcat. I think FX is the biggest innovator in the business right now as well for the .30 and under group.
Food for thought, How many people buy an FX product then add a Huma reg, and a Donny? Both Edgun and Cricket offer a product that is efficient, compact and quiet out of the box. The price of magazines, and capacity? Take dealer consideration into the game, you have a couple of small dealers that have both spent much time on the phone talking me thru problems. Do you get this from others, or is it ship it out we'll replace a sub dollar in O rings and you wait pay the shipping both ways?
i have both...Fx wildcat mk1 25cal and R5 Matador.30 Standard with huma Regulator...My go to gun is the R5 Matador...The Fx wildcat is a good fun (IF) you get one with no issues...i was lucky to get a good one...but i Recently sold it here on AGN...the guy i sold it to re-sold it to get a Edgun R5M....Edguns guns are super Accurate, built like a tank and super easy to work on if need be....My personal Option Edgun are a much better gun In terms of Durability and Accuracy...Fx seems to have a bad reputation with Quality control...
I think it boils down to how much money do you want to spend. I have had 3 FX Wildcats and I really liked each of them. I never had any problems with them and they were very accurate. If you are purchasing new the 3 year warranty is always a plus. I just recently purchased a R5M and I think it is my favorite all time air gun. It is extremely accurate and I really like the size of it, it is a standard length. I think the stock that came on it is as nice of a looking stock as I have ever seen. I like the forward cocking mechanism and there's no doubt it is a robust airgun, this is probably what I like about it the most.
Long story short, either option will serve you well. Best of luck deciding.
