Wildcat mk2 amp regulator repair

I’ve searched high and low, and haven’t really found much info on this. Currently the fix for a creeping amp regulator in the wildcat is to replace it with a huma. Now I’m a huge fan of huma, but what I’m not a fan of, is the loss of external adjustments to the regulator after replacing it. Is there a way to repair the amp to stop the creep issue Permanently?

I purchased my wildcat used from a member here that replaced the amp with a huma already, and while I like the way it shoots, I would like the option of adjusting it without having to almost completely disassemble the gun, not to mention degassing it completely. I would like to be able to sit at the range with a chrono, and some different weight pellets and slugs, and set it up to shoot them all optimally in the same session without major overhaul. Thanks in advance for any info!!

Lazy man repair for creepy FX regulators...

Yea this works!!!

Store the gun at equal to less than set nominal reg pressure and just fill it up only when you are ready to shoot again...

If FX only stated in all their manuals to store their guns equal or less than set reg pressure then no more headaches.

Same goes for leaky guns just don't fill it before putting it away and fill only when ready to go shoot again.

You should still have dead on first couple cold shots on that lower fill if stored right at the reg set point equal to your storage put away remaining pressure level in case you got to blast a couple of birds or squirrels while in between storage without having to fill it.

You know when the velocity drops just off the reg you still got some good shots left eh?

So there really isn’t a “proper” fix for these amp regulators?

Have you read the linked thread above?

I just did thanks. I don’t trust myself enough to Do that kind of polishing to these parts. Maybe I can get my local gunsmith to look into it for me. Thanks for the help!

Many just blow off the first couple of shots or don't really care. Nothing can prevent it forever. One day that first shot will be thrown off eventually when you least expect it even with HUMA.

So you’re thinking that dry firing a couple shots before a session will make all good? I’m guessing these creep problems are only a thing if sorted for fairly long periods of time?

Yes many already do it as a ritual and don't talk about it. Just store it at equal to reg pressure your first shot gonna be good and you do have at least couple starting shots even before you fill.

You can fix it but I gave up on 2 Impacts and I think I'm better than average working on guns and after several times I just said screw it and was going to try it unregulated high power for the heaviest slugs project that never happened. Fantastic for a converted prior regulated Royale 500 to unregulated OH DANG WHAT POWER!!!
