Wildcat MK11 30cal adding a power plenum

I bought and installed this (above) into a Wildcat 0.30. I am new to modifying airguns and thought it was pretty easy. I watched this video beforehand:

I set the regulator at around 125bar and the muzzle energy stayed basically equal to the factory-set AMP regulator (presumably around 140bar) at ~69ft-lbf.

Gun is now noticeably quieter; I no longer needed the bulk of my DonnyFL Ronin and get similar loudness out of a standard length (no extender) Hugget Astelle (substantial weight reduction vs Ronin).

Shot count at a given muzzle energy will go up. And, you would have more energy at any given regulator pressure.

Joe Kool had a pretty extensive post on his experience modifying a smaller caliber Wildcat (I believe it was a 0.25 cal); you should check it out. It seems safe to reason all of the benefits he reported would similarly apply to the 0.30 cal. I know Bigragu also has quite a bit of experience with this modification- perhaps he could weigh in....

Here’s the tread I started when I did the install on my 30 wildcat. It is a worthy upgrade. My wildcats are both quiet anyway, so I didn’t pay attention to any changes to the rapport.

Now when I say quiet, it’s not mouse fart quiet or any of the lingo folks call out when trying to say how quiet there guns are. I still hear the shot, but what’s important is no one in the house just 15’ away from my garage can hear it. What they hear is the pellet hitting the pellet trap that’s 50’ away outside, while they are inside.

So, on my 25 cal wildcat, I also installed the power plenum just three days ago. My pellet of choice is the 28.40 grain Barracuda Hunter Extremes by H&N. Before the power plenum install I was averaging 927 FPS with those things, and after the instal of the power plenum and no other changes made, I’m now at a sizzling 984 FPS. When I saw that on my chronograph, I wondered what the accuracy would be like at that speed, and it never changed, if anything, it got better-

I also decided to see to see what the 33.95 JSB MK2 King Heavies would do with this upgrade, and checking my notes, with just the standard Huma reg and spacer I was at 875 FPS. After the plenum install I was at 918 FPS. As far as accuracy, it’s just as accurate as my Barracuda Hunter Extremes, but just an 1/4” lower in point of aim. The grouping is identical-

At the bulls on this target are 3 shots of the Barracuda Hunter Extremes, then to the right I used the arrow shaped part of the target, aimed at the tip point, and you can see I’m about a 1/4 to 3/8” lower, but all ten shots smashed together like it did in the first target I posted for the Barracudas.

If I worked better at my breathing and timing of the shot, along with use a scope with either a fine cross hair intersection or a fine tiny dot, I know my shots would be more hole in hole. The dot at the center of my reticle is small, but still large enough to make hitting exactly where I aim a bit challenging. I like to relate it to say a 50 cent piece was the outer perimeter of the orange bullseye, and inside of that you lay a BB and that represents my point of aim. Lay a dime over that BB and that’s my reticle dot.

Still like my scope, and I’d buy it again over and over. It’s more of an acquire and fire reticle, vs a benchrest type reticle.
