Wildcat M2 VS Wildcat M3

Hi guys,

I have a M2 Wildcat .22 that I love. It took some time and tinkering to make it the gun it is now. First off it came with one of the few ST barrels that would lead up and the accuracy would go out the window. AoA replaced the barrel and that problem went away, but then after a couple of years the regulator would need 2-3 shots to "warm up" and shoot consistently. That wasn't really an issue if you were shooting paper but I have the occasional need to whack a starling or other pest, and so I couldn't trust the first few shots to be accurate. A Huma regulator took care of that issue and now I have a great shooting gun that shoots JSB 18's at an average of 880, which is perfect for my needs. Then I noticed there is a M3 Wildcat available that is more adjustable, has a larger magazine, picatinny rail, etc., and that itch to get a new gun has started. I'm going to try to resist that itch for now, but just curious if anybody has had experience with both the M2 and the M3 and would be willing to share their thoughts.

Here is a shot of my gun and a shot of the chunks of lead the original barrel produced.

I probably should have done a search first. I hope this topic isn't redundant.

Thanks,

Don

The MKIII's just became available on the 5/20 so it will be a little time before peeps can report on the valued differences . . With the new barrel liner and external power control and higher volume magazine at about the same price of the MKII's difficult to not jump. I have the MK II Compact and ordered the new Superior barrel liner and planning to add the Huma regulator and plenum so I will sit tight for now !

Man, Aeromat, you keep flashing pics of that gun, screw the MK3, I wanna buy yours, lol!

Aeromat, you'll like the Huma kit, with the 30cc plenum. VERY easy install. Only problem, is you have to de-gas, and take the Huma reg out, to adjust. With my 30 cal Mkll, I started with 130 bar, wound up with 160 bar. Averaging 890 with 44.75 JSB's I even got a quick reply from Huma, about the install. Great customer support! The Huma reg, uses the hole from the AMP reg adjustment, as the bleed hole. All you have to do, is take out the FX reg and spacer, push in the Huma reg, then the 30cc plenum, then the end cap. Done!

If bells and whistles are what makes you open your wallet to a product you already own, then mklll, if not then mkll and do some minor upgrades yourself (pic rails are easy to customize onto a rifle, large plenums as well..)

I don't have a horse in this race though having owned neither wildcats, thats just my personal opinion on upgrading from one generation rifle to another...nothing against those that chase the shiniest bell and crispest whistle ;)

If your MKII shoots good and you have it to your liking, why get rid of it? Unless you want to shoot different ammo and you plan to tune all day, then maybe. Just wait a couple more months and the MKIV will be out.

Thats a nice looking airgun! What kind of cover do you have on the shroud and moderator, I like it!

I'll keep my MKII for now, I'm liking it so far. Accurate, reliability, looks.

I also ordered the new liner, waiting for it to arrive to see if it groups better than it already does.
