Wildcat Issues

Hi all. First post, but have been following the forum since the beginning. I just got my .25 Wildcat yesterday and have had around 150 shots through it. It is now sitting on my kitchen counter in the vise for the past three hours when all of the sudden It started pissing air out of the reg vent. it started with around 200 bar and has slowed around 160 bar but not stopped. I know it is most likely an o-ring, but my question is, Am i correct? and If so, what kind (if any) warranty will I be voiding by tearing into my gun when i just got it? I have never dealt with FX before. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

My suggestion would be to first call the dealer you purchased it from to find out what your options are prior to tearing into the rifle. They could help in identifying the source of the leak and most likely would either send you the correct o-ring or seal so you can fix it or tell you to pack it up and send it back to be fixed. I know it's a bummer to get a new rifle and find it has a problem right out of the gate. Trust me I have been there a few times myself. I hope you are back up and running soon.

Bummer, LHD. This issue seems to be affecting a small percentage of the gen1 wildcats. I'm sure that offers you no comfort that most other owners are not having issues. But, FX has created a PDF, explaining the cause and fix. They are active on our forum:

That said, a return to the vendor is the safest bet. Call them. Most vendors can send return labels by mail or as PDF's.

"linsfreak"I was always told by a seller, never buy from first batch.

I have always lined up for the new stuff. I was one of the first to drop $1600 on a relatively unknown Russian bull pup. And that gun was not without its faults. It had a ridiculously cheap stock (that was later replaced with a proper one by the manufacture) and had spiraling pellet issues. The bobcat gen1 had a stock I did not like. My marauder gen1 had accuracy issues. All of these "problems" could have been avoided if I had waited for later models.

But, the extra joy I got from NOT waiting more than made up for the few issues. From the second we are born, we are on the clock. I will always be the first one in the pool. :)

Edit: I realized that I got a little off-track there. :) Apologies to the original poster.

If that was the case, no one would ever sell a product of any type. Nothing is ever perfect and sometimes some of us get the blemished items. That's just the way it goes. I'm surprised a seller would ever say that. Sounds like he/she is shooting themselves in the foot. No pun intended.

There's a well known incident in the computer world from years ago called 'The Osborne Effect'. Osborne was an early computer maker. Their first model sold fairly well, but had some problems. They were intending to fix most of the issues discovered with the first model when the second model was released. Unfortunately, they announced the second model and the expected fixes it would bring. Sales of Model #1 plummeted overnight. The company's cash flow dried up and they closed up shop before Model #2 was released.

Actually Osbourne went out of business because a competitor offered a superior product for almost half the price (the Kaypro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaypro) and there were some bad investment decisions made by Osbourne exec's trying to save money. It was more of an economic reason to mind Moore's Law.
Back to the topic, whats the news on the return or repair? Its kinda nice seeing how the different vendors handle issues in real time. Its honest advertising

Times have changed my friend. That used to mean more. It meant you could get stuck with a "lemon". That won't happen with any of these high end PCP guns. The bigger picture is do you like the features of whatever model you purchase? Because that' can't change. As we've seen in this forum the manufacturer has helped people with issues. And the reseller has too. And more importantly, there is NOT one common problem with this gun.

If it were an unproven company I could agree with not buying the first batch. FX is well established and a well known quality brand in the air gun world.

A little unrelated but similarly how times have changed....almost 10 years ago i got my first iPhone and my immediate reaction was "it doesn't come with an owners manual? How am I supposed to learn to use this thing?" I remember that very well. And now my WC didn't come with a model specific owners manual and I couldn't care less. Manufacturers know people go to forums or a quick google search to learn how to do something. Times have changed.

Arod. You nailed it there!
And now the FX Impact is coming. So many parts and corresponding action..... The chainreaktionfactor is overhanging and can result in multiple issues. But never the less: I rather take my chance and preorder, than wait for the meal to be well done. Agree with Ted there. Life is to short to wait in line.

LOL! That's hilarious! Somebody has to be first!

This reminds me of a saying about being the first penguin. Their must be a first penguin or else nothing in life will ever happen

Received my 25 cal Wildcat 2 weeks ago. Lovely gun. Only weights 9 lbs 1 oz with 6.5x20 Sidewinder and level bubble. Gun weighs 8 lbs even without scope.

Accuracy at 25 yds is simply one hole with JSB 25.4 gr, JSB 25.4 lubed, AA 25.4 gr and H & N hunter extremes 28 gr.

I have 2 concerns however. First is the 50 yd accuracy. For some reason I can not get better tan 3/4 inch groups at 50 yes even hough I shoot my 22 cal Bobcat at same time it dos under 1/2 inch first try. So I feel confident that its not the wind/weather conditions.

One thing I noticed when I received it was that the rear stock screw was very loose, so I snugged it up. Since then I have experimented with different tensions on both stock screws only to find than having the front one snug and the rear one loose seems best but still not great still 3/4 to 1 inch groups.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I received my 25 Wildcat about a month ago. I'm shooting JSB 25.4 gr pellets. the best group I can get at 25 yards is 1/2"
50 yard groups 1' . I was very close to returning the gun but I thought it was me. My brother has a 25 Cricket that shoots
circles around my FX Wildcat. I can shoot 1 pellet sized 5 shot group at 25 yards with the Cricket, under 1/2" at 50 yards.
I tried a different scope on the fx- no help, point of impact is always changing. DaveF you are not alone.

Thank you for the suggestions. 904 fps so transfer port should be ok, I'll clean barrel and I am aware of parallax error, not quite sure
how to correct it, it's not an issue with brother's Cricket. the cricket has the same scope (Hawke Airmax 30). My brother and I have
shot over 2000 rounds through this gun and we had only a few tight groups at 25 yards. Anyone else having issues??
