When ordering a huma reg for the wildcat it aasks what reg is in the gun...the old reg or the amp reg....im wondering is the huma reg the same for both and the only difference is the spacer so that the breather holes line up correctly

That is correct. The reg itself is the same, but the MK1’s and the early MK2’s that we’re pre AMP reg use the small 15mm spacer, while the AMP reg models require the longer spacer.
if you have an MK2 and are unsure if yours is pre AMP, the AMP style guns will have two holes in the air tube- one for AMP reg adjustment and a second hole 180 degrees on the other side with a black rubber ball stuck in it. If your MK2 has only one tiny hole, usually on the left side portion of the gun, then it is the old style , pre AMP reg

I personally would not swap the amp reg, for the huma, as long as it work fine. Having the freedom to adjust pressure without having to take the tube apart make it it easier to tune the gun.
