I have an idea for you... Reduce your velocity to about 880 or 890 feet per second with those 10.3 grain pellets and I believe your accuracy will improve.
Thanks Chuck. That's my plan, plus changing the reg to a Huma and re-barreling with a choked poly barrel. But first want to get a couple of tins through it, slow it down and see what it will do stock. Where did you end up on your reg for pressure? Sylvan
Delrin ought to work well. Being somewhat pliable it should have a tendency to be self locking versus a harder non rendering material. I think rendering is the proper description, sounded good anyway.. jk
Hey Crusher I will be receiving a package of Parts on Monday... Part of which contains 2 of the hammer spring adjustment nuts so that I can try out the Jam nut Theory. I would like to think that screwing one nut down tight against the other will hold it in place but we'll see. One thing I can recommend is that you put a couple drops of Vibra Tite on the threads and let it sit a couple minutes before you screw that nut in so that there's something there for it to hang on to. One nice thing about the vibra-tite is that it just takes a couple drops of acetone on a Q-tip to dissolve it enough to allow you to remove the nut and access your spring and Hammer if you choose to remove it. But what a messy proposition all the way around... I am a far cry from a design engineer but I'll bet even I could come up with a better idea then FX did on this! They must be laughing all the way to the Bank! All the Karma Chuck
Yeah I use the VLC3. I put it on the nut in there and that is what I was surprised about. It hold my hammer in the Marauder perfectly. But I never expected this nut to move forward. If I would put the VLC3 in front too, I bet it would hold. But I did find a place to order the parts and I have them coming. Probably should order some other spare parts from them while I'm at it.
Damn! Broke the thread cutting tool for my lathe. Got a new one on order plus a thread die. Looking at the parts and the gun it looks like a part could be machined that screwed into the end of the threaded hole and butted on a shoulder with a long allen head screw pushing a washer pushing the spring. The stock would have to be grooved but then it could be adjusted without taking the stock off. Probably a mutt point because once it's set I'll never change it. Sylvan
I just used my dremel and made a slot across the top. It fits perfectly and I don't have to chase down the wrenches. It gives me both options.
Now on my WC 25, that little thin nut there is on the verge of stripping even though I heated the loctite and it turned out rather easily. That nut is a piece of junk. So the one in the 25 is black and easier to tear up. The one in the 177 is brass and very solid. I looked at them and they both look the same. So I ordered another brass one for the 25. We'll see if that works.
Just got my Magnetospeed V3, and am getting an average FPS of 953 with Crossman 14.3 hollow points, in 22 cal. This is with my Wildcat, as it came out of the box.
Yikes. Have you tried a headier pellet? On both my 177 and 25, they came HOT from the factory. For example the 177 shot the 10's at 955. So I just tuned it back a little to get around 915 and it started getting 90+ shots per fill. So with 22, maybe go to the next size pellet, or tune it back just a bit? Maybe 950's is too hot for the 22 as well.
It just scews in the threaded hole behind the hammer spring adjuster. Then the adjuster is backed up a tiny bit to lock it againist the brass jam screw. The hole is so you can get the hex wrench in the adjuster to lock them together so you don’t lose your hammer spring ajustment. Chuck look for your’s in the mail next week. CH
