Why heavier pellets going faster?

Hi to all. I have a Cometa Orion SH long 25 cal. I have shoot many different pellets and I have chosen which ones are best for the barrel of my own. But a few days before i shoot with the chrony and saw something that looks strange. Jsb 25,39gr have a speed of about 810fps and H&N Grizlly 31gr goes faster about 850fps !!!

This also seems on paper. With jsb I've zeroed the scope and with Grizllys, which is heavier, the pellets going 3 dots up!!!

Why is this happening?

Slugs and pellets are two completely different animals. The POI can and will be very different in a lot of cases and the velocities vary wildly too. When I started doing some slug testing a while back, I tried the Grizzlies, they fit loose in my barrel and have a pretty short bearing surface which would explain the speed. If they shoot accurately, that's a good thing. More FPE!!! Stoti

I just got my .25 slug liner for my Crown.I chronyed some pellets to see how they came out versus the stock barrel and was shocked to see the KH M1's were on average 23 FPS faster than the MKII's the opposite was true with the stock liner. The stock liner didn't like the MKI's after about 70 yards so I just shot MKII's in it. Now it shoots both equally well at 100yards? But the groups are not as tight as the stock liner. Stoti was kind enough to supply some slugs with a transaction we did together and out of 8 sample only 2 showed promise, I'll have 100 each of those this week. Bottom line? Without a chronograph I would be wasting time and money trying to figure out why my POI changes.
