Different threads on air guns, resolved thanks to help from Johan.

I have come across a couple of different threads used on the FX Wildcats, 1/2 inch x 20 and 20mm x 1.0, today I have another customer with yet another configuration on his Wildcat, his apparently has 27mm male threads on his. Why on earth would the maker use 3 different sizes of threads on the same gun? It really makes no sense to me, unless they are just getting rid of old stock adapters and using them on various guns,

Thanks to input from Johan it would appear that the customer who told me his gun came with 1/2 inch threads on his gun was incorrect, it must have had an aftermarket adapter on it. I have been assured that they only use the one size on them, the Bobcat does however use a larger thread size than the other FX guns. The us Guns have male threads on them, the European models have female threads on the shrouds. This is helpful to know since I am sure there must be some Euro models over here, all the best, Neil.

Thanks for contacting me with this information Johan, it is much appreciated, Neil.

I have just heard back from Johan at FX airguns and apparently the first batch of the Wildcats did indeed have 27mm threads. Apparently AOA had requested that they change them to standardize the threads, to be the same as used on their other models, so later batches had the more standard 20mm threads. So if any of you Wildcat owners ever need something to attach to the shroud, it would be wise to make sure of which thread size you have on your gun, Neil.
