Which Texan?? .45 SS or .308 (regular) or .308 carbine?

Going to pick one of these up at the Texas Airgun show in the next few weeks. Been waiting all year to get one, but still not sure which one to get. Main use will be pigs, coyotes and deer when legal here in Texas. I have shot the SS model but not sure if the .308 is being offered in the SS yet. I like quiet and short. Hunting will mostly be spot/stalk, pop up blinds and truck when checking cattle and fences.

I need some suggestions and opinions on my choices.

Thanks
Chris

I like the Texan. For me, the main reason why I would get one would be the knockdown power. For that reason, the long .45 caliber would be the only choice. I already have a 200 fpe .357 air rifle. I would want the higher power version for humane knock down power at longer distances. Critters can be shy, and not all shots happen at 100 yards or less.

The .308 will be available in the SS but likely won't be out till July or latter . My shooting buddy has a full size .308 and I like it . But I'm waiting on a .457 ss for deer hunting as the timber I hunt in all shots will be inside 100 yards . Giving up 10 inches of barrel on the .308 ss will make a considerable difference in power , enough that I would go .357 or .45 for deer myself . I think the full size .308 would do fine for deer but we are regulated to .357 min for deer here .

"Thurmond"My belief after going to the TPWD meeting is that .30 will NOT be legal for deer when it is all said and done in Texas.
I strongly suspect that .357 will be minimum. I hope I am wrong.
That will be ridiculous if it pans out that way. Wasn’t a .308 Texan the gun the TPW agent took the two deer with on video at over 100 yards each, with one of them dropping on the spot as if shot with a high fpe powder burner?

Definitely the .45 because you’ll never have to worry about where / if it’s legal for large game. Don’t rule out the long Texan. Mine has the RL suppressor and is QUIET. It’s about 13 feet long, but the extra power is worth it, lol.

I have a American Air Arms .308 Slayer that will kill deer all day long, as will a .308 Texan. I hope guns like these “make the cut” in Texas for deer, but am not going to hold my breath.

@Bullfrog and I are going to show / prove the lethality of .30 / .308 in FL this November!
