Which slug work for you in regular superior liner in .30 cal?

I have a 700mm STX Superior. This is a 10 shot 100 yard group with NSA 49.5gr. @ 962fps.

Did some tuning and pellet/slug testing over the weekend with my Maverick .30 700MM standard superior. With the 1st reg @ 175 and 2nd @ 133, I tested the NSA sample pack, FX Hybrids, Exact 44.7 gr pellets at 50 yds. The 47 gr slugs grouped best for me out of all the slugs. I had the wheel on 7 for all the slugs, then turned it to 6 for the best pellet groups.

I think it also depends on how precise you want to be, and how skilled of a shooter you are. If you've ever shot an Impact at 135+ FPE you know what I am talking about. If you think shooting regular .30 pellets at 75 FPE makes the gun a "little" jumpy, you've felt nothing yet at 135. Its great that the platform can be tweaked that high, but if you're trying to hit ground squirrels at 150+ yards you better have some serious skills if you are shooting the heavy slugs. Clamped into a rest on a cement bench is one thing, sitting on a bucket and sticks or lying prone with bipod is something totally different. Probably makes more sense to shoot the 49.5 slugs at around 900 FPS, makes the gun much easier to shoot accurately. I shoot a .25 Impact at about 80 FPE, and could go higher in power, but I would gain little and lose much... But then I'm not using it as a bench gun, but an Extreme Field Target and hunting gun.

You are right Mike this is part of the reason i wan't to use lighter slugs. That rifle won't get too hold sensitive and have heavy recoil. To get high velocity and still remain good shootcount.

I was using .22 Jsb Knockouts in my stx pellet liner with great results at 100 y. Laying down rifle rested on bipod and hand under rear of the rifle i shoot three 5 shoot groups at 100 m which is 110y.two groups were under 1" and one exactly 1" if i remember correctly. But as soon as i streched it to 150 m groups open to around 5 or 6".I guess slug destabalized because of not right twist rate from pellet liner.

I would like to get around 2" groups out to 150m in good conditions with this new setup in .30 cal.

One of the reason i wen't with that cal is i get around same shootcount then in. 22 if setup for heavy slugs.

Thanks for your response.
