Which Portable Air Compressor?

Just my opinion, but a lot of the Chinese compressors have had some problems. I'm not putting them down, everything has it's place. Of the ones your looking at, whichever one gives you the best access to parts and service would be the one to buy. If there is no service, then I would buy the one that will sell you spare parts and buy enough to rebuild it a couple of times with the original purchase. Good luck. sylvan

I would buy another Yong Heng; they are small, light, fast pumping and least expensive!. mine cost me $360 with shipping, and I have seen prices under 300$, BUT.........

.I would get the non automatic shut-off version, (the one without the cheap Chinese relay) that often is no good as was mine.

Also, I would get the 110 volt unit which will fit your wall plug sockets; the 220Volt model's plug will not fit US sockets and requires buying/splicing a 15-20 dollar US version plug.

Also, do not use the factory recommended Hydraulic oil in the crankcase; use a quality synthetic compressor oil...a clear-color one so you can tell when it gets dirty.

Also, put large quantity of ice in the required water cooling bucket.....this compressor uses an external cooling pump, hoses, water container and 2-5 gallons of clean water.

Also, this compressor does not include an adequate air/water separator for PCP gun filling.... another 120 bucks for a cheap "gold" filter, some hose fittings, and some Micro seive desicant beads.

Also, if you shut the compressor off, you will need to bleed the lines completely, before starting it up again, or risk motor damage.

Finally, you will need to watch the fill pressures carefully and without fail; otherwise you will pop a burst disc if the pressure gets too high. You get extra discs with the compressor, but they are not precise in burst pressure rating, mine burst at 4200 PSI

I have had two of these compressors and learned much of the above information the hard way.....it is not covered in the instructions. I would buy another, considering the price and what I have learned. Be aware that there is no factory support, but most replacement parts are available on line cheap, especially maintenance items like filters, burst discs and O-rings.
