Which PCP's can shoot Slugs Well?

Example:

My Edgun Matador R5M Long is getting below 1.5 MOA ten shot groups with 24 grain Varmint Knockers 2S (.12 bc) slugs at 950fps (approx 50fpe). Regulator is set at 145 bar, shooting off bags, and a 20x SWFA scope, trigger is still factory, and I am loading from a magazine. The slugs are unweighted, unsorted and and not washed.

Pretty much FX is the only manufacturer that has designed barrels for slugs. Nothing will perform as well as FX does. I don’t have a gun but I’m planning to buy one for shooting slugs. I’m not the slightest bit interested in any other gun due to FX being like the most hands on when it comes to like everything lol. They have been the first to market with almost every advancement in this arena. Impact mkll will be in my hands soon.

Doesn’t own a gun and brainwashed😳 there are other guns that shoot slugs very well crickets taipan Vulcan Edgun. Don’t get caught up in the hype with just fx 😎

From my understanding FX NEEDS to make slug barrels because of their smooth-twist twist rates. FX rates twist rates are much slower than the average rifle, 1:30 or so for ST. Which is great for long range pellets, but not good for slugs. The average LW barrel is around 1:15 or 1:16 or so and do great with both. The FX liner are exactly the same twist as most LW barrels. There is no doubt FX makes great guns, but they are also great at marketing too.

I own a Taipan .25 and I've tested NSA slugs at 50 yards (I even did a video about it, search on my YT channel and you will see), and they do great at that distance. I haven't had the chance to test past that distance and for me that's the main reason one would like to go slugs vs pellets. If all I'm doing is 50 yards, I would say I don't need to shoot slugs, is at 100 yards or more when you will get the real benefits of shooting slugs.

So my question is, will my gun shoot slugs well at 100+ yards? I think the main limitation I'll have is the adjustability. On my Taipan I'm somehow limited to what I can adjust, pretty much I can set the hammer spring tension without taking the entire thing apart. To shoot slugs at long distances you need to push that projectile fast, and that's why IMO, FX Impact and Crown, are the go to guns for slugs, because I'm not aware of any other gun that has been designed for adjustability as those two.

Let me clarify here, I don't own an FX gun, and I'm extremely happy with my Taipan, but again, I was extremely happy with my TX200 until I have to take shots on the iguanas past 40 yards, the Taipan unlock that limitation, now I can take one iguana down with one shot at 50. But I see what I can do with an FX gun today that I can't today with my Taipan. Even when slugs are accurate at this distance, a .22 cal slug at much higher speed will do more damage that my Taipan .25 and it will allow me to take the 100 yard shot I don't even dream about.

To me, it's not a matter of brain wash, I really wish there exists a Taipan Veteran MKII I can adjust like the FXs can. They are already shooting great at medium distance.

EdGun R5 .30 cal is supposed to be incredible with the 47gr slugs (and apparently the 50's) according to Nick Nielsen. I'll find out for myself this weekend how well they do out of the long version that I ordered.

@jwrabbit123 is also a very good source for slug info, he's been making and shooting slugs for over a decade. He and some others have contributed a great deal of information on this forum alone 😎

I think one of the unspoken notions in threads like this is 100+ yard shooting. While I'm sure there's some validity to using slugs at 50y, I can imagine that others are like myself, that zero at 100y with the goal of stretching out further.

I'm not sure if the OP had this notion in mind, but I think 50y is relatively trivial and doesn't really speak to the true compatibility with the slugs and airgun.
