Which pcp barrel is the best? IYO!!

That's a very big fire starting question!! Lol. I have used lothar walther, cz, the in house barrels from kral, and Hatsan and so far my favorite was the cz barrel. It chewed up almost everything I fed it and sub moa. Haven't really used anything from FX so sorry no help there. My priest 2 had a cz barrel and it was ridiculously accurate with any pellet I fed it and did well with slugs. Additionally, the kral barrel is super accurate with pellets and doesn't shoot slugs though.

Getting a good barrel with an airgun has been a crap shoot for me. Most require some degree of work to get them to a point where i am personally happy with them.

I have only had one barrel ship with a rifle that was complete garbage, and that was the one that came with my Taipan Vet (Standard). I fixed that by busting my ass for days to make the perfect adapter to run FX barrels, where I have a 600mm slug liner, 2 700mm slug liners, and 2 pellet liners that I have hoarded because they are laser beams.

All 7 LW barrels that I have had for my EDGuns were either perfect out of the box or fixable. The one that I had to put in the most work with is my .30 cal barrel (590mm), but I got that thing throated and crowned perfectly and the bore polished to a mirror:

If you have a great barrel, never let it go and take great care of it

Woah, that's definitely a mirror finish nice job

I think they are mostly all good barrels if you win the lottery. Machining wears and barrels change as it does. So, an early barrel may be better than a later barrel or in some cases I expect the opposite is true. The condition of the machinery and the care taken by the employees makes the barrel. I have Crosman barrels and barrels made by, Lothar Walther, CZ and DAQ that shoot under or a little over an inch groups at 100 yards. On the other hand I ended up with several defective Crosman barrels, over the years. My last two Lothar Walther barrels, that are defective, either shoot poorly or don't even fit in my gun. So it is difficult for me to say that one manufacturer is above the rest when comparing apples to apples that is.

The LW barrel on my SK-19 came like this some of my Crosman's were far worse.

That's a horrible barrel from the factory looks like a used barrel should've sent it back

I did send it back and got this damaged one back from the wonderful USPS folks for my troubles. Sent it back and received another barrel that would not even fit in my gun! So the usual run around trying to get something that werqs is still in progress some three months later. Just sent an e-mail out to the LCS people a week or so back have as yet not received a reply. The folks at FX have been no better, not barrel troubles though, although everything is finally right with them at the moment.

I've got 2 lothar walthers, 4 smooth twist, an HW, and 1 TJ. The choked-less TJ barrel takes the cake. Its not picky about ammo. And it doesn't foul up like my choked barrels. And still shoots exactly right with the best of the others.

Overall, the performance of it puts the others to shame. Because it does things the others do not.

Also, pellets that I press thru come out smoother than my STX barrel.

Sounds like you need your money back!

I just want a good LW barrel and have faith that can happen. To be honest I have to go through this kind of stuff way to often as do many others. In the end I have a bit more patients, it all gets fixed and things are good again. I am over getting upset as I live in the first world and here in the first world these kinds of troubles really just don't matter.

Good luck my friend thanks for the post

I really have nothing else to compare to but (3) 600mm FX original S/T barrels and a Leshiy 300mm, All are extremely accurate, pellet on pellet at 60 yards with the S/T barrels, groups 1/2 inch and under are easy and same with the Leshiy barrel at closer ranges. The Leshiy is much harder to shoot as accurately at longer distances for obvious reasons including the 6 power scope on it but plenty accurate for hunting small game out to 70 yards.

I prefer to give opinions before reading others, so forgive me if anything is repeated.

It’s not so much the brand name. What makes a great PCP barrel IMO is fine rounded lands and shallow grooves for no to little blow by.
As far as consistency in shot placement, or “accuracy” well, a entire conglomerate of things depend upon that. All I can say is I’ve bought used guns that gave me better groups than pictured in the ad for its sale.

You ain’t kidding! You do very nice work. Clean threads and, oh my!. That bore is a shining! May I ask what your process is? Or at least what grit size you’re using to polish so fine?
