Which Of Your Current Guns Has Really Impressed You The Most

My little Beeman R7 completely satisfied me for 35+ years. Then my needs changed and I found out about PCPs.

Talk about extremes. Believe it or not, my next gun was a used AirForce Condor .22. It was butt-ugly, heavy as a concrete block, long as a telephone pole, loud as a cannon, it had a damnable auto-safety, and it sprayed CPHPs like a Remington 1100 sprays birdshot. But it had potential!!! Now it sports a .25 cal slug barrel, a carbon fiber bottle, a one piece hammer and heavy spring, a 14 inch long LDC, NO SAFETY, an Atlas clone bi-pod, a rail mounted flashlight and laser sight, and an ATN X-Sight II HD night vision scope. Now it's as heavy and long and ugly as locomotive and almost as powerful. But I shoot it exclusively off a bench in the pitch blackness of night, so I don't have to carry it or look at it. It's as quiet as a mouse and accurate as a Bulova and bags coyotes on up! It impresses the heck out of me with every shot.

My next gun was an "as new" Daystate Huntsman Classic .22. The guy I bought it from deceitfully misrepresented this gun as a 30 FPE version (citing Ted's video review). But it's an early 24 FPE. Turns out that this earlier 24 FPE version is more suitable for my purposes (30 yard squirrels) than the higher powered version. After getting over being swindled, I fell head over heels for this little beauty, which has put my R7 into retirement. This little gun is a class act in every respect. It's not just a pretty gun. It's a SHOOTER. Best of all, it got my wife into airgunning. Daystate, I'm forever indebted.

My most recent purchase was an FX Wildcat .22. salt-pepper laminate. I got it right here on AGN. It was twice the cost of my Daystate Huntsman Classic (OUCH). And it was a BULLPUP (God forbid). But it was my consolation for the 30 FPE DHC that I thought I was buying. Being my first Bullpup, my heart was in my mouth. Would I like it? Yup! And then some. My old, tired back loves it! It is my go to gun for anything smaller than a coyote. It came with a Huggett LDC and it's the quietest gun I own. It's the most accurate and precise of all because it's regulated. And it's as fun to shoot as my Daystate Huntsman Classic. It impresses me to no end.

I'm considering an FX Wildcat in .25, or an FX Impact in .25. I'll soon be on retirement income and may have to pare down to just one gun. For now, these are my favorites.

Well, I have to say it's my lowly QB78D in .22. With promo code I spent a Whopping 60ish bucks. I did some "tinkerin" and have a very nice trigger,675fps and 3/4 in 5 shot groups @ 25yds. Honorable mention goes to my Beeman P17. An Incredible value for right around 30 bucks. Of course,if I spent over 1000 to 1500 on an air rifle (which I Would!) That sucker BETTER impress me!! I would most likely donate a testicle (Original owner, has had a few fender benders but hasn't affected overall operation. 1960's vintage.) for new FX Crown! As far as that goes, My Wife and I have an understanding...She said that the next time I "squander" money on a expensive-ass bb gun,She's gonna leave me. I looked her directley in the eyes and told Her, "Yes.I understand."

Hello from Spain, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself because I have not seen a place, I ask for your pardon. I go approximately 5 years in this interest and I have shot with almost everything, just now I go 6 months with a Wildcat in .22 and it is the one that puts a smile in my face. This Christmas I bought a FX Streamline in .25 and it is equal or better than the Wildcat. Each one has a Viper 8-32×60 with mounts FX No-Limit and they do mono hole at 50 meters, I am very satisfied with the performance of both. Regards.

I'm relatively new to PCPs, and I don't have nearly the incredible air rifles that some of you guys have, but I purchased a Gamo Coyote in .22 from PA on sale on a whim, and that thing is crazy accurate and consistent.

I know. I know. It's got an awful trigger, the stock is huge, ugly, and uncomfortable, the moderator looks like a Twinkie molested the muzzle at 80 mph, and it is unregulated.

That being said, it can usually out shoot my Regal XL most days. Go figure.

Best $420 I ever spent.

I have to say, I do have Wildcat envy though....

I'm most impressed with the electronic regulation of the Helliboard modification to my Daystate MK4iS. The adjustability afforded by the electronic regulation is what makes this rifle unique and is the main cause of my purchase of the rifle. For me, the most fun thing about shooting air rifles is getting to know them. It’s not unlike the first few dates with a pretty girl when everything is exciting and new. Before long, the excitement and novelty turns into droll routine. My eyes start to wander toward the hot new thing on the other end of the shooting range. I imagine myself holding and caressing her and all the exciting times I could have getting to know her. My “old” rifle just isn’t as appealing anymore and I end up buying a new one and starting the cycle over again. The heli-board electronics board of the MK4 iS allows me to shoot the gun at 12 distinct settings. Pellet velocity and power can be varied anywhere between a pathetic 3 FPE up to a whopping 40+ FPE with heavy pellets. I can adjust the power down to allow for a full day’s worth of plinking in one fill with a flat shot curve, or crank it up for some serious hunting power. I can dial it in to be competition eligible for both 12 FPE and 20 FPE class rules. I can experiment to my heart’s content in order to find the most accurate pellet at every velocity and distance imaginable. I think the adjustability of the rifle might just make it a rifle I keep forever. Plus, it isn't a bottle gun. Frankly, the looks of a gun matters greatly to me.

However, I may need to get my hands on a .22 cal Wildcat MK2. There are enough fans of it on this thread that I may need to find out what I'm missing.

By far the one rifle that has impressed me the most is my Steyr Hunting 5 semi auto.

I have had it for 1 month and it has been the most enjoyable, most accurate rifle to shoot straight out of the box. It is a .177 caliber. I have it sighted in to 27 yards, if I do my part it will shoot out all the ring designation numbers on a standard 10" bulls eye target. I had read about them quite a lot and and did my research before acquiring one. I have been thoroughly impressed with the the performance of this rifle and would tell anyone that is worth the price of admission to get one. The fit, finish, balance when shouldering the rife to shoot have all exceeded my expectations. I can only repeat what I read in another post on this forum awhile ago. (I apologize for not remembering who posted it.) This is para phrasing their comment, "Steyr is one of the few rifles that you don't find people posting comments or questions about because people just don't have problems or difficulties with them". It has by far gotten much more use than any of the other 3 rifles I currently own in the past month. I fully anticipate that trend to continue. Just love it. I purchased an Aztec emerald scope and mounted it on the rifle and been extremely happy with the combination. I will post again in a year but so far this has been the one.

"jking"I'll start this out, I have a 500 Royale, RAW HM100X 25 and a Wildcat 25. Between the three, I get the biggest grin from my Wildcat. Though they are all very accurate, on any given day the WC will hang with either out to 80yds (that's my max range I have). This is also taking into account that it's not as comfortable to shoot as a full length gun and it doesn't have quite the optics the other two have but it's still is a stellar performer. It'll shoot the Kings and the Heavies with the same accuracy as well. FX hit a home run with this one.

Haha, Jimmy, sounds like you've been bitten hard by the Bullpup bug ;-)
I knew what I was getting when I bought my Thomas, so no surprises there. It's the most accurate gun I have ever had inside 50yds when it's not too windy.
But the gun that surprised and impresses me the most is my .22 Colibri. It's just a joy to shoot. I bought it used for $1000 over a year ago. I thought for sure I would need to send it off to get it tuned, but was pleasantly surprised? Once I put the bipod adapter on her and mounted it way back near the trigger guard and started shooting I was just amazed at the accuracy with it. I've had friends over shooting grapes at 50+ yds with it and they are amazed. So, yeah this one gives me the most grins per pellet ;-) Also..... for the money spent....... it's the absolute best bang for the buck on any airgun I've ever owned.

FX Royale 400 - I've owned, or still own, the Impact, Crown, Wildcat, Edgun, S-510, Talon SS, etc., etc.
The Royale 400 impresses me the most because it has stood the test of time and been very consistent and accurate without ever being touched by myself. The only things I've changed on it since it came out of the box is an upgraded stock and a Huggett moderator. The trigger is lovely. I find the thumbhole stock to be very comfortable. It's not too long. It's not too loud, even with the OEM moderator. The side lever action is incredibly smooth as well. 3 power levels. Regulated. The CF bottle change was a step in the right direction for this series as well, taking about 1lb off weight of the rifle.

Another contender is the Air Arms S-510 FAC. This one, again, was a very consistent rifle for me and one of the great beginning steps in my air rifle journey. Now, "consistent" and "non-regulated" don't always go together very well. I'm not saying this had a consistent or flat shot string. I say it's consistent because it was reliable over time and I knew exactly what to expect every time I picked it up. It's got a nice traditional stock, an easy to use magazine, and it's decently quiet right out of the box. I was slightly let down with the power adjustment because it doesn't lock in place and can be bumped to a different setting. But, the fact that it has a power wheel is another reason why it impresses me.
Sorry, no pic of this one.
