Which Leupold scope?

I have the VX-Freedom 3-9x33 EFR Fine Duplex and although it is a really good scope, I hate the reticle. If you can live with a simple duplex reticle, then it is good scope.

If you want a different reticle I think you can, for more $$, order one from Leupold with a different reticle, but I am not sure about that.

For now, that scope is sitting in a drawer as I found that not only do I like a reticle with reference points, I also like a LOT more magnification even though I only pest in my backyard and farthest distance is usually less than 45 yards.

You could also call Leupold and ask them to recommend a scope. They are fine folks!

Do tell....

HOW MANY SCOPES does Leupold make that have a 10 yard parallax and a holdoff reticle* — two essential features of a scope for an airgun?

*A holdoff reticle = a reticle with evenly spaced hash lines (not a BDC that's calibrated to some powder burner cartridge....)

LOL! Yep.

I think leupolds scopes are Great and USA made,I think your choices are any 40mm under bell with up to 14 power.

Yes call leupold and tell them what you are wanting in a scope...you can also look at their catalog.

BTW when I wanted to save some money I got a Burris scope,it is also a good scope and I usually get either brand scope with AO

Look through profile of AGN user Matt247365. He has posted Ebay listings for Leupold scopes with mil dot reticles.

I thought I had heard Leupold had no plans to open their custom shop that offered other reticles.

Come to think of it, I think I heard that too. No problem as I don't intend on buying any more Leupold scopes for air guns as they don't make many models that are truly intended for air gun usage. Still, Leupold makes fine scopes and the folks there are very nice and customer friendly.

I have a Leupold 3X to 10X "EFR" for Parallax Adjust-ability ***Very important for use with airguns because of Close range shooting...Always look for this adjust ability other wise the Reticle will LOOK Fuzzy and all will be out of focus as most guns have Parallax set 100 yards/powder burners........

This is a Vintage 1996 Scope in perfect condition and has a Fine SHARP duplex Reticle. These Had Parallax adjustment by twisting / adj. down for Close range shooting..i.e. AIRGUN Specific..these Have some of the Clearest and sharpest optics and only weighs 13 or so ounces Perfect Scope weight for keeping a Airgun light for hunting/carry. If you are gong to shoot in early evening / to Dusk, and requite Any light gathering capabilities go with a 50 MM objective Lens. Note: even 33mm and 40 mm Objective Lense will simply go dark/ lost in trees and brush in dawn or sunset.

I recently bought a Leshiy 2 Very small and compact gun requiring a Very short Scope and I am buying a Marsh 1.5 Scope Very short.....I appreciate fine glass I am about to sell my Leupold 3X 10X 50MM* Key W/Parallax adjust Let me know if you may be interested.

My best on your search for a Leupold as they Have LIFETIME Warr. and are transferable...un-heard of today The March Scope @ $2675.00 has only 10 year warr??

I have one of these scopes, too. Very high quality optic. However, if you need reticle reference points, the fine duplex might not suit your needs.

Quite a few other scope companies also do this like Athlon, Vortex, Arken, Burris, and Element to name a few off the top of my head. Look here for info on warranty on most brand scopes.

One reason used Leupold scopes retain their value is the warranty, you can buy a used one and still getvwarranty service on it!!!! Whilevyou may need to order they can make any reticule you want, so can Burris. I have had both Leupold and Burris custom reticules and loved them. Still have them after over 30 years, no issues with either!!! Who cares what the hash lines are calibrated for, you can calculate that yourself. When I had my Burris reticule changed they just had a graduated reticule with a certain spacing between lines, dont remember what itvwas, nor did it make any difference to me. Once the scope was mounted, I zeroed my 35 yard O. and went from there. Never trusted a computor trajectory program, for me I had to manually check it and prove my msrks were right on. Once O was established just started shooting at distance and found where the marks lined up. Made note on my tape and ready to compete in FT matches. Yep the Leupold and Burris scopes are pricey, but you getvwhat you pay for!!!! Life long warranty, no issue trouble free service andvyes talk to them, they have the ability to make whatever you need. Do get that AO for the closeup shots, you will be sorry if you dont.

Heck, I will sell my VX-Freedom 3-9×33 EFR Fine Duplex for $300+ shipping. LOL!

There is a different reticle

BTW there is a different VX- Freedom 2-7x33 Reticle...Rimfire is good one! LOL

If you reside in a Hot Place and wish to go out shooting when Sun is going down or coming up when animals are more abundant.............Note: Go with a LARGER Objective lens...."" is FAR too small will get to dark even when Dusk light out............ EFR is for adj Parallax even below 10 Yards........ 3X9X33 may be ok power for air gun and .22 cal..........However you will loose the cross hairs at DusK or in tree shadows IMO!

Get a minimum Obj Lens (the end of scope with Bell shape) of 42mm or better yet 50mm............................... NOT 33

Better a illuminated DAYLIGHT Bright red dot Reticle and 50MM
