Which air or scuba tank??

When I first started out I bought a 1000 dollar "great white" it was a mistake 
joe brancato is a fast talker like a used car salesman and he doesn't just put a price next to his products because he wants to to give u the pitch and sell u things u don't need I then bought. A omega good tank but expensive I recently learned a trick whitch may be helpful to all where I get my tanks filled at the local scuba shop well people for some reason people abondon tanks at scuba shops they are allowed to resell the tank after so long well generally they just recoop their storage and fee for the fill can u believe it? I bought a 109 cubic foot tank it's a steel carbon fiber wrapped 4350 scuba tank I get more fills from it then my 75 cf carbon 4500 tank I paid 100 dollars for it full of air It had a Fresh hydro on it and 5 years left on it

Great Idea!! Too late for me, I got a tiger shark tank from Joe. He pushed hard to sell me a setup with the extra gauge and all the bells etc. I declined and paid for the tigershark with single gauge. I got the tank with two gauges and the plastic tank protector for around $640. Its a great looking tank and the valve and hose look first quality. But as a thrifty guy I give you the win by far.

$100 is a super steal for that tank!!! You are one luck devil. I'm not certain but it sounds like you may have the Luxfer Limited 106 Composite Cylinder. The tank can be bought new for just $395.95 at Dive Seekers.

Once again Travels comes through for the community. That's a lot of tank for the money. Forgive my ignorance of tank design, but are all CF tanks Aluminum/CF composite? Or is that one a hybrid to reduce cost. Does it have the 15 year life like the other CF tanks? Edit: Yep it has a 15 year life like other CF tanks.
R&L is where I got my DIN 300 to SCBA adapter to fill my tigershark at the Fire Dept. It was the best buy I could find and not some cobbled together bit others sell for much more. If you have a DIN 300 tank and a buddy at the Fire Dept. you are in business.

"bradster"I have the great white tank as well, works great! I travel with it and leave it in the truck and refill from there. Or I'll tether it took my gun while at the range. Takes 30-45min for the scuba shop to fill it, big tank. 


My bud at the Fire Dept can fill it in under 5 mins start to walking out the door. They have a HUGE compressor that fills a rack of steel bottles to 6000 that are hooked up to the fill station. They open a compartment, link your tank, close and fill. I would rather a very slow fill to prevent the tank from heating up, and then loosing 100+ psi when the tank cools. But beggars should not be too choosey.

Number of fills between the two is probably close. There are fill calculators that would answer that question. Point is Travels suggestion is several hundred less than comps at the expense of an almost 2x heavier cylinder. Couple a hundred would go a long way to the next level scope. I went with a CF tank that the guys at the Fire Dept would be comfortable with. Also it fills to the pressure that THEY use. I was in the wildland fire service for about 14 years and made many contacts with these guys. Funny thing is I thought they were nuts going into a burning building and they thought I was nuts going into the woods to fight a wildfire.

The Luxfer Limited 106 CF (CUBIC FOOT) Composite Cylinder is made of 6061 aluminum wrapped with fiberglass. It was composite design was not to save cost but to make the cylinder stronger so it could handle the high pressure. The Luxfer has a 15 year service life.

Ok, my bad as they say. I missed the fiberglass part. My brain thinks carbon fiber when I read wrapped or composite.

It depends there both very close if u fill the luxfer to only 4350 it gets 45 fills on my edgun 
my great white gets 46 fills however she fills all my tanks up at the same time and doesn't separate the 4350 tank just fills them all to 4500 in that case of course the 106 cf wins at 49 fills my whole point was scuba shops sells abandoned tanks but yes scot found it so even if I had to buy new I'd buy another luxfer I also didn't have to buy a fill assembly because the Vulcan came with a din fill assembly so for me just plain lucky I'd rather be lucky than good haha here's the link for fill calculator

My scuba shop offers very reasonable fills. They pump to 4000 in the winter, and in the summer they can hit 4200. This makes the Luxfer tanks superior. I don't know why the difference. They fill from 3000 to max in a couple of minutes. Another one as far as Joe B, do your homework, and lace up your negotiating shoes, get shipping costs age of what your receiving, and what is included clearly spelled out..

Be warned the luxfer 106 has 3 year hydros not 5 year like a carbon. I buy scba tanks used with 10 years of life left on ebay for between $200 and $300. http://m.ebay.com/itm/231289512584?nav=SEARCH

I have three 45cf, two 88cf, and a compressor. They all work great. You should also look into getting two tanks and cascading them it will dramatically increase your fills. That or one tank and a booster like this.

That way you can use your tank all the way down to about 1000 psi.
