When your dedicated Slug PCP becomes your best Pellet PCP

I picked up an Impact MK2 with PP and 700 mm slug liner A in February and the plan was for it to be a dedicated slug shooter. My Gen 1 Impact was supposed to be my pellet shooter. Well, many months later and it doesn't shoot slugs too good, no matter the tune, but it absolutely destroys any other air rifle I have owned where pellets are concerned. Best of all, so far it's consistent. And it's shooting JSB MKII's at the slug tuning which has them going around 930-940 fps.

Gee....now what?

I have a .30 cal slug A 700mm coming. I am hoping it will shoot my new NOE cast pellets well. The STX barrel does not like them so far. No real plans to shoot slugs with it unless I find a slug that will drill holes with it.

I have been asking around about the slug A barrel. So far I have gathered that the barrel likes the NSA 61.95 at 945 fps Also, the NSA 47 grain at 960 fps. I take these comments with a grain of salt though until verified.

I have the same set up in .25cal but with the new regular Superior liner. This set up is silly accurate with the MKII heavies at 930fps and the NSA 33.5 grain slugs at 1035fps. It takes about 10 seconds to switch the tune when we are at the farm. This rig is a blast to shoot. Get the Superior liner before you give up on the slugs. Best wishes.

Thanks for that! I also have a .25 cal Superior liner coming...

Golfer, So I was under the impression that anythng over 30 gn would shoot better out of the Superior Heavy Liner. Would you mind telling me how your groups with 33.5 NSA's look?

Also what's your tune to get 1035 fps from the 33.5"

I'm currently hitting right at 1000 fps on max for the JSB MKII's with the reg at 150 Bar. I have the OEM transfer port. The hammer is adjusted for max velocity at that reg setting or 17.5 mm HSTA

I have the same results as biohazardman , and I just stick with the nsa 36.2 slugs. I know it’s time consuming but once you find the tune that your gun prefers for the slugs you will not regret it. In fact I have only been shooting slugs, for the last 8000-10000 shots. Now if choose to shoot jsb both the 25 or 34 I just adjust my power wheel for speed and the same for the slugs. Hope that helps

I have not had the same luck as y’all. I tried the sample pack from NSA. Not much luck. Lots of fliers. I’m at 150 on the reg.
I have retuned the hammer for more power. Will try again tomorrow at 100 w 29.5; 33.5, 36.2 and 38.8.

The JSB MKII likes power setting E, at around 930-940. Shot 4 targets in a row all measuring 0.235-.315” at 50 yards.
at 75 yards it’s around 0.65”. Had to edit. Got my numbers wrong going off memory.
So we’ll see how the slugs do.

Will start at Min and work my way up in power settings and hopefully I’ll hit a sweet spot.
Might wait for the Superior Heavy Liner.
