I made a new carbon moderator for my fx impact. 125mm shorter than the original shroud, 8mm smaller Dia, 165grams lighter, 4dB quieter and looks 2 times better.

Looks good, what is the overall length of your sweet Impact.
Does look classy BB. What did you make the end pieces out of and would you mind sharing your design? Was that 500 or 600mm barrel? Again nice job.

3-D Printed ??? Or milled???
Hoot.
It’s all done on a lathe, I mount a die grinder or a drill onto face plate on the cross slide for the milling, or I use a dremel held in the tool post for all the really small milling cutters.
so long as I take small cuts it’s ok, I index the job held in the lathe with a pin that locks into holes in the chuck face plate.

Great idea on the use of the dremel, Did your lathe already have the holes for the indexing fix? Not sure my old Atlas Craftsman can do that but now I will investigate it. Thanks for the tips..

I used a 72 tooth gear rings to precisely index the chuck every 3rd tooth, then marked the chuck backplate, before removing and drilling 24 holes. Using and index arm it locks the chuck so a can dril/mill 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 24 equally spaced holes/slots

Heck yeah, mine has a pin too. Not sure hole many holes there are because I have to take make shoes and socks to keep count lol. Good to know and I'll have to remember that for future projects. BB, can you share a photo of how you mounted a dremel? Thanks again,
jimmy
To be fair, the dremel is fairly ridged in the tool post ( it’s only hanging out because put it in just for the photo) it only really vibrates with grinding discs that are out of balance. With that in mind, I ordered one of these today, hopefully it will be more industrial.
