When flagging a posting, it would generally help if the person flagging the posting could optionally state why they were flagging the posting.

For example I have just flagged a posting because it looked like the posting had been done with ulterior motives not consistent with the message of the posting. It’s the kind of behaviour scammers use to lure people into their scams. In this case it may not be immediately obvious why I flagged the posting, so having the opportunity to explain would have been helpful.

Where above it reads scammer/scam, it could also read hacker/hack.

Additionally some kind of check box list could be used so that the person flagging the post could indicate the general reason(s) that he/she is flagging the post. For example:

    • Inappropriate language
    • Offensive behaviour
    • Possible scamming activity
    • Possible hacking activity

You could also send a PM to either Michael or Ted as to your reason. I have to give them credit. They really have taken progressive action in keeping this forum friendly and the scammers out!

You can always PM me. Don’t PM Ted. Also you can click the link “Contact Us” at the bottom.

“RichardUK”Fantastic. Although somewhat disconcertingly the posting I flagged is still alive and kicking…

I have had several people check the topic you are referring to and no-one was hit with that pop-up ad. I believe it may have something to do with your computer / pop-up blocker or something. Its similar to whenever I login to Photobucket then click on my albums, I always get a pop-up ad. However it is a bit strange that when I try to edit that topic there is no text in the body. Since the original poster never responded to my PM, & we can’t figure out exactly what is going on, I will hide the topic. Thank you for notifying us.

Good news. We have upgraded the Flagging feature. Much like you suggested; the person flagging the post will be required to give a reason why they chose to flag it. The moderators will be notified who flagged it, and for what reason.
