Whats your go to/tried and true pcp?

My FX Bobcat 30 or M rod .25. 25 deadly accurate, but my son wont give it back. .30 bobcat oh my god thing is accurate 50-75 yards one hole stacks, my favorite squirrel tree is 63.5 yards from my sliding glass door, head shots no problem. Gun is also ridiculous powerful and loves 44.75 grain jsb's. Only problem with it is the weight just over 9 pounds with scope and rings its like carrying a cinderblock thru the woods. So the hobby continues to the next gun a carry hunter.

I wish someone close to me, Shreveport Louisiana, had a cricket for me to shoot. That is a scratch I would like to itch. Im not keeping count but there are alot of crickets here.
Based on what you've said in the past about what you like to shoot, I think a Cricket might be a good one for you to try if you ever wanted to give bullpups another chance
.

The 25 has a similar feel to a rifle but with the benefits of a bullpup (at least to me). It has a substantial and steady base that makes it easier to shoot accurately from a bench than other bullpups I have tried. The only thing is that the 25 will probably be too loud for your taste unless you get a shroud extension. NC can add an end cap with a 1/2' UNF or whatever you need.

The 22 should be quiet enough for you and while it will be equally comfy up front (as it's the same), it's shorter and lighter overall so it's slightly harder to shoot. I would probably go with a Mutant in 22 over a Cricket.

Compared to the Daystates you are used to, you'll probably find the fit and finish disappointing on the Cricket. The metal work isn't as well done and the wood they use on their stocks is quite horrible compared to a Daystate (but the same can be said for most other brands). On the other hand, Crickets are more efficient with air and I prefer a side lever to a bolt action.

If you are someone who has to have a wood stock, I would recommend buying one from that Michal Osyda custom stock maker over the factory wood.

Thanks. Im laughing right now because you actually know me through the forum. Your right.....I do like daystates and rifles. lol

Im probably going to give a pup another chance tho. Designate it to shorter ranges and in .177. I just want something different without going larger than .22. Something that fills a different role than the wolverine.

I have had my .22 Career 707 since 2000. It sold me on PCP air rifles. It will knock a ground squirrel off its feet at 75 yards and shoot into the ten ring at our local 50 yard matches. The lever action is smooth and the magazine feeds Kodiaks just fine.

My 707 is the Mark II model with an adjustable trigger and pellet stop. It wears the RWS logo, has a silver lever and dosen’t (thank heaven) have the gold colored receiver cover.

The 707 does have its downside. I think the forearm is too thin to mount a sling swivel and the magazines are a bit fiddly to load. The single loading feature barely works for me and you have to take the gun apart to change the pellet length in the feed. The upside is that it shoots great with Kodiaks.

Go to is my Daystate Air Wolf MCT .22 with Huggett and Hawke Sidewinder 30 4-16X50. Holds air & battery holds a charge forever, pinpoint surgical accuracy, super quiet. Have ordered a new cpu board that has 12 power level settings.

With this new board nothing beats it for flexibility, nothing!!

Yeah I usually remember everything anyone tells me... I usually remember more about what someone said than they do themselves...

If you want a bullpup that genuinely does a different job to your other guns, the Mutant Shorty is worth a look. That's how I justified it to myself when I bought it anyway. It really does allow me to do things that my other guns don't though.

It's just so short, light, quiet and accurate. It's a perfect woods walker / plinker. Mine stacks pellets at 50 yards like I haven't seen before on a gun straight out of the box. It's the quietest gun I have heard out of the box too, but if you ordered one with the WildWest shroud extension, I doubt you'd find anything quieter.

I have other guns that I consider to be quiet but no others that I could shoot without my wife hearing in the next room. If my neighbors are in their garden, they don't even look up when I take a shot unless the pellet hits something hard. If three squirrels are sitting on a branch, I can sometimes take all three without scaring the others away etc.

The only thing is that the Mutant feels more like a bullpup so you'd have to give yourself time to get used to it if you have a hard time adjusting from traditional rifles.

Has to be my 22 Cricket rifle. Since being tuned by AZ 3 years ago its my go to PCP. Extremely accurate. Crisp 10 oz trigger. Well balanced. 8 pounds scoped it shoulders beautifully. 50 shots at 33 - 34 fpe on a 3200 psi fill. Quite, no ping or twang and after installing Donny Du's Fatboy its near silent.

65 and 70 yard groups last summer:

Lots of great info here guys. Thanks. Zebra I will have to give the mutant shorty a look. It would definitely be different and woukdnt tread on my wolverines role in the slightest. Sam63......that cricket rifle is probably the one rifle that I really really want to shoot. Ive known about them for awhile....but nobody ever talks about em.
To all the Airwolf owners......I know for a fact those are awesome rifles with multiple power settings. I owned a pulsar in .22 and it was the quietest rifle I have ever heard....on high power too.
Zebra......what is your personal favorite. The one you have the most confidence in.

Around the house for varmints, its my jkhan noblessee .22 as my go to gun. About the same thing as a evanix rainstorm 2. Crazy accurate with almost anything I shoot through it, but have it set up with jsb18's. Adjustable power, soft touch stock, open reticle, fast target acquisition, it doesn't miss. I shoot all four of my guns pretty much equally but cant' use them around the house because of the power they have and close proximity to neighbors.
