What's your favorite airgun?

With all the threads and everything I see of people posting different guns all the time I know there are those out there who have owned and will own more airguns than me. I'd like to hear what you favorite gun ever is. Can be a rifle or pistol. Springer, CO2, PCP, etc.

There are a few requirements I'd like people to stick to:

  • You have to own, or have owned, this gun. You cannot just have shot your friends gun a lot. (I hope this makes sense. You really get to know a gun when it's your own)
  • You can only list one gun. I don't want to know about runners up - I want to know the one favorite best gun for you.
  • The gun has to be a production gun that others will have owned too. It's okay if modded after purchase.
  • Picture are encouraged.

I'll start. I've only been back into airguns for about 2-3 years after a multi-decade hiatus. What a time to come back to the hobby though. I've owned quite a few airguns in this time but my favorite is definitely my FX Ranchero .177 with Steve Corcoran carbine stock. It's not super powerful, only gets 16 shots per 250bar fill due to the Altaros reg taking a lot of air space, and best within 30 yards - but within that scope it is deadly accurate and precise. Amazing match trigger. Hole on hole on hole is repeatable all day long. It's also a pleasure to shoulder thanks to Steve's amazing wood work.

Last week another of my rifles stood atop the pack. However, after doing overtime -- on the graveyard shift, no less -- eradicating pest raccoons (3) and 'possums (4) this week alone, this powerful and accurate Taipan Veteran Long .25 caliber has separated itself from the crowd.

Outfitted with the NiteSite Viper and an infrared light, this rifle wreaks havoc on any wayward, night-raiding vermin.

For me your stipulations make it impossible to specify because my favorite is the one from my large "Harem" that is currently in my arms and this can change monthly, weekly, daily or even several times per day! ;) My relationship with my wife is strictly monogamous but with my airguns it is entirely polygamous! :p

Isn't that what keeps it fun. You don't have that one gun you keep coming back to?

No I don't. Although some guns get neglected for periods of time there is no favorite I can think of that I always return to. I tend to switch guns with different task and if the current favorite fails to perform well. Sometimes the gun I want to shoot is not the gun I need to shoot for best performance at that particular time !

Come on Tp3ranch, play along, we all “know” there can’t be only one. Pick one for this thread, your other PCPs don’t have to know.

ok i'll play. if i could only choose one it would be... .22 Brocock Contour S6. it doesn't get a lot of shots per fill (18), isn't very powerful (15 fpe) or doesn't have an adjustable trigger, but it's put meat on the table time and time again. dead on accurate out to 40 yards, not pellet fussy, light weight, short enough to carry in a backpack, and it can be easily be filled with a hand pump. it's great in a barn or in thick stuff and in 3 years it's never failed.

Steyr Hunting 5 Semi auto .22. So much so it’s the only gun I own. Sold my other one because it wasn’t getting used at all, and it was a high end airgun in it’s own right. The Steyr has never had a hiccup and the only mod I did was install a lighter trigger spring. That would’ve been my only complaint but now it’s silky smooth at less than a pound of pull. Now I have to use the safety now and again but it’s worth the amazing trigger. 50-60 shots per fill. Anything within 100 yards is toast. Now the semi auto function is two fold. First having multiple kills on a group of ground squirrels is downright exhilarating. But at greater distances, any slight misses are quickly rectified with an adjusted follow up shot. It’s relatively light, shoulders easily, and has a great ergonomic pistol grip. On my deadshot anything within 150 yards isn’t safe. But carrying it into the field for a stalk is a dream. I carry an adjustable shooting stick and she points effortlessly for 75 yards or so. I have made a109 yard squirrel with the unsupported stick. For further distances I’ll need a tree to brace on or go prone. I just have so much fun with her that I must admit I look at other air rifles for maybe shooting slugs, but then I go back out with her shootin squirrels and I’m back in love. Just writing this makes me anxious to go out again!
