What was your first ever air rifle?

Tryna start a conversation here since lockdown is making me bored. Anyways mine was an smk b2 .177 cal I got it brand new for 33$ without any mods just a plain stock version and I still can get one for that price. It faired well for a few years haha, was a good plinker, I endlessly tried mounting a scope on it as a young boy but since I was only 13 it always didn't work out well. Plus the only thing I tried mounting on it was an off brand 4x20 scope with very horrible mounts lol. I shot my first sparrow and doves with it(bit irresponsible at the time since it - as well as me- really sucked and it barely even went through them at anything past 20 yards since it did lose most of its power due to the little care I gave it). But I was only 13 with little understanding of how air rifles worked. I'd actually love to own another one someday my local gunshop still sells them for 30$ but the economy is bad and I can't afford that anymore, it would make an excellent fun rifle if properly taken care off, and probably a little pest rifle at close ranges of 10-25 yards. or lending it to a friend if I go out for a hunting session so we can both shoot.

What about you guys? What was your first ever airgun?

Daisy model 25 BB rifle. Got it for Christmas in 1962 just a couple of weeks after my 9th birthday. My Dad built me a BB trap so I could shoot in the back yard and not have to worry about BBs bouncing round and breaking windows (or worse!). Angled plywood backstop with sand in the bottom to catch the BB's. It worked great.

I have no idea how many 10's of thousands of BBs have been shot out of that rifle. I shot as many BB's as money from bottle returns would buy every week. Icicles were a favorite target in the winter. Then the rifle went to two nephews who probably shot it as much, if not more, than I did. We are on the third (or fourth??) BB tube, but all else is original. I have it back now and it still works just fine.

My first as a kid was a Crosman 760 that I got for Christmas when I was nine years old. That was over 40 years ago and I still have it tucked back in the safe. It needs some new seals as it wont hold air any more. Then I got a nice Beeman R10 Deluxe .20 caliber when I was about 16. Still have that one too and it needs a new piston spring. I'm planning to re finish the stock and get a tune up kit for it some day. About ten years ago I got back into air guns again when I discovered PCP rifles. My first PCP was custom Talon from Talon Tunes. That got me started into the wonderful world of PCP rifles. Since then I've bought and sold rifles from Air Arms, Edgun, Daystate, FX and Kaliber. This past year my business has been mostly shut down and I've stayed home almost all the time. I have been very happy to have my HW30 to plink with in the back yard. That wonderful little rifle has kept me sane.

Daisy 860. Got it for my 10th birthday. I almost did "shoot my eye out"! Watched the bb fly down, hit the plywood backstop, and come right back at me and hit me in the upper eyelid!

I still pick it up every now and then. 30 years later and I can still aim to account for the spin it puts on the bb. Sometimes those old multi-pumps are just fun to shoot.

Those daisy guns seem to be popular for starters and young people. They sound fun!

crossman 760 pump master still have it 41 years later. Still my all time favorite all the fun I had with this rifle..I lived on a dead end street the last house on the left with all woods around..from blasting birds to bumble bees..the best was army men. That we set on fire. The guy holding the bazooka lol ..shot mostly bbs. They used to come in a card board milk like container..memories. HYNZIE 4S

Ha! My military father would not allow a BB gun and said I could have a real gun when he thought it appropriate. Gramps bought me a cheap 22LR—-then many years later I purchased a BSA springer 177. Later a FWB124 but just for pesting . Didn’t know PCP’s existed til Steve123 turned me on to them on Sniper’s Hide years back. The hype then was Edgun, which I would own one 10 yrs later. Now I shoot 10 to 1 airguns versus my firearms. Have been really excited since I found this website!

Benjamin 177cal pump rifle in 1964. I bought it used for $1.50 a new one was over $10.00, because at this time I was living in St. Louis,Mo. were they manufactured and repaired them. Because my father worked close to the plant, in the 1970’s he had the gun rebuild and I still have it. This gun has taken countless rabbits squirrels quail and ground hogs, as well as crows starlings and sparrow.
