I’m new to slug shooting and will be shooting 48 grain cast slugs out of a .25 huben at @1000 FPS. What type of lube would you use?
What type of lube do you put on slugs?

I am shooting slugs molded by myself on my Huben .22. Lubricant is a MUST or you can forget about accuracy. My choice is Dupont Krytox GPL105 oil which is fully synthetic, O ring safe and feels very slippery. Many are recommending silicon oil which is known to be not good for metal-to-metal contacts under high pressure so I have been wondering why. Perhaps being O ring safe is the reason.

Thanks fellas. That kryptox is probably superior to the slick 50 but at $20 for a half oz. I would rather buy 4 (12 oz) cans of slick 50 for the same price. Unless there’s a drastic difference in performance using the kryptox I’ll go with the slick 50 or some silicone based product

One can of Slick 50 will last you a very long time just spray a small amount
in a ziplock bag and add the slugs an roll them around, one can will last you
a couple of years.

I know of one slug manufacturer that uses Slick 50 in making pellets. It always leaves a trace on the batches sold.
