What pellet do you have that produces the most energy at muzzle?

Okay, I know different guns, i.e. brands, make, or model, will shoot the same pellet, i.e. JSB exact or H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme, at different speeds, thus energy levels and accuracy, but accuracy isn’t my question. I am curious what pellet you have that has the highest energy, i.e. ft/lbs / joules, at the muzzle.

On my Brocock Compatto Sniper XR on the high power setting H&N Hornet in .177 / 4.5 mm is consistently running over 18 ft/lbs aka 24 joules at the muzzle, and I measure the velocity of the pellet using the FX Pocket Chrony. I think the highest energy level I have seen is almost 19 ft/lbs for a H&N Hornet - 10.03 grain pellet. The Compatto has a stock tune, just to comment.

Generally heavier pellet usually produces more energy. There is a tipping point tho when bullet gets too heavy and loses energy instead of adding it. My. 224cal gun for example gives 98,1FPE with 37grain bullet, 110FPE with 50grainer BUT with 61grainer it drops to 107FPE so we can assume there is somewhere between the sweet spot. But when we speak only about comercially available pellets I would say max fpe mostlikely comes out from heaviest you can find.

I was doing some chrono testing of different pellets out of my Veles yesterday. I have it setup for the JSB 15.9 @ 725fps for 18.55 fpe. Usually when you go up in weight you gain a little bit more fpe but this was not the case. JSB 18.1 @ 18.04 fpe and JSB 25.39 @ 17.05 fpe.

I've become a big fan over the past 6 months of the H&N Barracuda Match 21gr .22 pellet. Tried it out thinking it would fall somewhere in between the JSB 18 and 25gr. Nope. Shooting out at 630fps for 18.63 fpe - highest of the 4 pellets tested.

The answer to your question is always going to be dependent upon the power of the gun no matter what. The pellet I have that yields the most FPE is my 33.95gr JSB out of the Cricket at around 920 fpe, good for just under 64fpe. But, that gun is modified by the dealer to shoot that hot. Out of the box that gun will shoot those pellets much slower, yielding a lower fpe.

So, the heaviest pellet that can be slung out the fastest will always be the one with the most fpe.

Currently my WAR .30 cal .... JSB 44.75 grains at @ 870 fps making + 75 ft lbs at muzzle

My smallest caliber a custom m-rod in .177 caliber shooting a 14.97 grain H&N pellet at @ 1060 fps making 37 ft lbs at muzzle.

WOOF !!!

A .177 with 37ftl bs, that's crazy! That must be a kick in the pants to play with. How long is the barrel on that gun?

I have a 177 Daystate Pulsar HP incoming that ought to be a real HOOT 2 SHOOT so long as it don't go BANG! Past 1060fps!!!

Absolutely ZERO SPECS for this one so IDK!
