What optics you would think for action shooting?

First I must say I can shoot only at my gun club, we have a very strict and controlled environment.

I have a decent optics on my Impact for BR 100 meters also shooting at the LR22 range silhouettes with my Leshiy2 on which I have a IO 14-50 mounted.

My club have several ranges for action shooting as well and I am planning taking a specific course with the Leshiy2.

I had several red dots including the very last set Sig Romeo7 and Juliet6 but I sold all of them, I would need some sort of reticle for fast ranging. I had in my mind to try the Sig Bravo battle sight, but when I recalculated that reticle doesn't match the airgun ranging distances. I have also a broken Eotech holographic sight and I will not buy it again.

The Imersive Optics is in example a designed scope for airguns, but.... for the focusing wheel I would need a third hand in fast moving around between targets:

That reticle is set at 20 M, 1 Mil under @ 40M, 1 Mil over @ 60 M and 2.3 Mil over @ 80 M...this is really a no-brain er airgun scope.

Any tips?

I have no access to Dedal Stalker only some online pictures, looks like almost a target reticle, this is why I am hesitant to order online. This already happened with my Sig setup, I liked the red dot with the magnifier but a single dot (only) I could not suit to the airgun velocity and range.

I like thin reticles for target rings this why I have SFP scopes with high magnification,

but for fast moving targets need a single infinite focus glass with simple (tactical) reticle details but those shall be thick and illuminated, something like these but for short distances let say up to 100 M....and of course a price tag....

I just got an idea,

the airsoft must be popular in Greater Toronto area I am seeing many bigger stores listed online and the closest Asian stores have a pretty impressive selection of airsoft guns and optics I may visit some to compare things from the shelf.

I'm not exactly clear what the ideal scope is here but like others I was thinking small objective for more forgiving focus/parallax.

I think the Leupold mentioned has 150 yard fixed parallax & a duplex type reticle.

But I had a similar scope pop into my head & that's the Athlon 1-4.5x24. It has side focus which I know you don't necessarily want but I think I do feel being able to set it to an intermediate distance before a session would come at an advantage. If 4.5 magnification is enough then check out the reticle online.

I have not used one of the Athlons but do have two of the Stryka 1-6x24 scopes with side focus. Again only a duplex reticle but of all my scopes it by far has the most forgiving focus range.

Another possibility is the Athlon 1-8x24 which evidently has a 50 yard fixed parallax distance. I also have one of these but it doesn't have quite enough eye relief for my Leshiy & it is blurry when shooting at my 14 yard indoor range. Unfortunately I haven't spent enough time with it to really say if that 50 yard parallax makes a difference in the field.

Another LPVO with 50 yard parallax is the Vector Forester 1-5x24. At least I think that's the model.

I also own the Dedal & have shot with the Immersive 1-5x30. Both are great but I think my 24mm objective LPVOs are more forgiving with depth of field.

These tree action shooting ranges I am thinking to play, all need a training for Black Badge (IDPA, IPSC) Matches.

we have one 25 M pistol (calibres) range, one 50 M pistol and action rifles (calibres) range, one 120 M action rifles (calibres) range and one with a large sand pit for cowboy action with pistols and rifles. And plus the long distance ranges I think 12 or 13 maybe.

So the ideal scope or sight for playing action games must be large objective, an infinite focus no parallax, and a reticle for long eye relief...some prismatic or holographic sight.

I am even tinkering to get a AK style iron sight as well until I find the best combination Leshiy2 and optics.

Sounds simple ;(

Edit: the Leupold mentioned earlier is a inch tube and that is an issue for me, all my spare scope rings are mm.

...the Holosun holo sight is pretty nice. ....

Yes I like the holographic sights (I have tried two Eotech's), the sight window is big enough, can move around and aim w both eyes open, no need to worry for parallax or eye relief, very comfortable shooting offhand. These main purpose is not really for target shooting (meaning target rings scoring) but for fast targets engagement, I think 50 Meters is a comfortable distance. The problem I had with Eotech it is bulky big block, looks huge on airgun, but I never spent $500 to get a smaller handgun size.

I have also one red dot with a circle on my other PP750, that one is guarding my wallnut threes pretty well, whatever critter fits inside a circle within 20 Meter radius is a history.

I have a 1-5x 20mm Leupold. The 150 yard Parallax with the 20mm is fine down to about 25 yards. Inside of that it becomes noticable.

look for red dots with the ACSS reticle, they have holdover points built in (but it is catered towards MERICA 556)

you will have the same reticle (built for 556) with the sig bravo sights however. i have read the bravo is best for 100yards plus

steiner, and primary arms also have some nice prism sights that you don't have to fiddle the parallax with. i can recommend the 6x stalker as well. the highest magnification you will get out of a prism, MUCH lighter than the ACOG 6x too.

i have my L2 setup similar to Michaels. stalker on top, with an offset red dot.

look for red dots with the ACSS reticle...

Yes, that is the reticle I am thinking about it. I fully trust you if no one of these was ever built for airguns so expecting the ranging dots with rounding errors.

The next is finding a scope online...we have learned already that there are products out there for every money, some glass worth to consider and some are just a marketing sheet.

I had some issues rearlier years with buying optics from USA (to Canada) is a pain do to ITAR, so I need to have my eyes wide open.

Holosun and PrimaryArms, all good stuff out of stock.......

you got me interested in the bravo 5 again and i did some more research.

it seems the glass is very clear but QC is terrible, and many have a reticle that is not aligned correctly.

i can recommend the stalker 6x, as i have one. clear glass and mil lines. the best eyer relief in a prism scope you can get as well, without getting the 1x prisms like the cyclops.... i may order one as a nice "end of the world" optic

....it seems the glass is very clear but QC is terrible, and many have a reticle that is not aligned correctly.

I had a problem with Sig Sauer optics last year, same thing the red dot magnifier was off center. I could not send them (SigSauer) directly because they would not be able to send it back to me across the border (ITAR again), so I ended up handing the Juliet6 magnifier to my local dealer. Within 7 months Sig was not able to fix it neither replace the magnifier doe to shortage of parts or whatever else was involved, and I ended up accepting a refund, also sold my Romeo7 as well. I will most likely not buy Sig again, but the Bravo5 reticle is very attempting.

:) :)

I like the IO but I have the MD reticle on my 14x50, this model had the second option with Christmas three (MD Extended) reticle only and which one I considered a little = crowded. But seeing the lower 5x power models have the MD Rapid vs MDE. I would buy one to try it, but my main concern is the IO eye reliefe for the action game, you walk and run around and turning and in the dust....and you need to keep the IO in close focus. I may be wrong but I think the IO is more a target scope vs a battle scope. Mine 14x50 definitely cannot do it because of the power is 14 and I would need one hand on the focus wheel all the time.

;( looks bulky, and the elevation adjustment is broken. Also I remember I was always emotional with a soo touch sensitive buttons from the side, cannot lean it this side but need to take out the batteries or will drain same day, and the batteries cost a fortune, and a questionable splash proof only, and full of dust inside, and this one must be some early production model from a decade ago.

I would say nomore Eotech, but the holographic image looks and works awesome for a close counter and fast target acquisition...and the reticle is old style but not bad, easy to parallax

Broken........cannot trust the elevation.
