Bandit @ 7fpe has no trouble dropping grey squirrel at 20 yards.  50 shots.

Even though I do not own this gun, I have researched it before. Based on all the feedback I have gotten, I would say the BSA Ultra SE in .177 is a good choice for your wants/needs. Alternately I would think that one of the Brocock guns may fit the bill if dialed in for less power.

polymags in a P17?  so if Dairyboy can drop a critter at 15 yards with it, then across the deck feeder defense (3 yards tops) shouldnt an issue…

just got a new tin for the mrod :)

The P17 doesn't have any energy to spare but it will do the job for short distances IF one is a good pistol shot.  I have several and really like them but they wouldn't be the first thing I reached for to dispatch squirrel or rabbit sized critters.

My Brocock Sniper XR has a power wheel with adjustment levels, no Hammer Spring or Reg. changes for these results:

    (.25 with JSB King)

    High Power – 877 fps

    Med. Power – 828 fps

    Low Power – 728 fps

A significant drop of about 150 fps in low power. Hope this helps.
