Probably my Diana 430L in .177 is the most accurate spring rifle I have at the moment. The others are good but the little 430 is an MOA rifle when there is no wind.
Related Question, my 2 main HW springers are .177, which is nice to keep pellet selection simple. If I were to pick up an RWS 54, or HW 97, would moving to .22 be better or would those models in .177 be efficient out to 50 yards?
The majority of my shooting is in my backyard where I am limited is 25 yards. But I would love to take something out in the woods that could be used on crows or starlings at 50+ yards.
The 54 is a little bit of a chore to keep .177 pellets at viable velocities. .22 is no issue as long as you don't use super lights and will be better in the windier conditions at ranges as far as 50+ yards.
Gamo Whisper Fusion Pro 22cal..........Backyard target at 55 yds.....2 .tennis balls suspended by wires....hit ratio 9 out of 10 shots. And strong enough to penetrate
My collection says the FWB 300S. As conditions of wind increase substantially I might move to my de-tuned to 11fps HW97. As conditions increase I don't think the trade off to go with any more fps or velocity is worth the accompanying extra recoil at 55yrds. Just about any of my guns will shoot some blue ribbon bughole groups but if I have to shoot ten 5 shot groups in front of a group of people then go home...I gotta go with the low velocity springers especially if its hand held.
