What is considered long time storage of a compressor?

In the manual for the coltri mch-6 compressor it says: "if You do not intend to use the compressor for a long period, extact the filtration cartridge...", and more.

It also says: "During machine downtimes it is advisable to run the compressor for 20 minutes every 15 days"

But what is really considered long period?

I usually fill my air tank every 3-4 weeks interwalls. But it is usually topping the tank from 180-220 bar, and up to 300bar. It takes about 10 minutes, topping my 12 liter scuba tank from 200 bar. So what I do is to run it in 10 minutes, stop the machine, and bleed of moisture, and then letting it cool some, before running it a couple of minutes unpressurised, and then leave it for another 2-3 weeks. I do not remove the cartridge in that period. If I reach 280 bar in thouse 10 minutes, I do not bother to start the compressor up again after bleeding.

Do you think this is to litle running? Would it maybe be better to top the tank up every 14 days instead, and let it run aprox 5 minutes?

I realize that the Nomad II is a long way from your MCH-6 but here is what I got from Stacy H. at Air Venturi Tech Services on Mar 30, 2021 re how to store it:

"The compressor tech did agree that the unit should be ran once or twice a month. Running with the plug in the hose and bleeder open for a minute or two, then close the bleeder and let it get up to pressure and bleed out. Every other month, start with the purge screw on the bottom unscrewed and do the same. Then add a drop of silicone as the pressure builds."

That purge screw on the bottom is what bleeds the moisture.

Sounds like worst thing to do is just let them set. Humm - Wonder if that would also apply to a hand pump?

If it were me I would run yours at least 20 minutes every 15 days as your manual says.

With the Nomad II they never even considered storage and completely left it out of the manual.
