What is a good moderator for .30 impact the Donny that came with it is loud loud

I think the main problem with donny FL is the air stripping quality. I am sure many will argue with me on this. However I have had issues with loudness on my ronin. I was able to increase sound reduction by 9 decibels or so by adding nylon washers on my af condor 25. However they shifted position and started clipping. There is a fix here somewhere. The idea is proven that it can be improved and that air stripping is the answer. I would try yos idea first and look up some threads. I can tell you e6000 will not hold. You will need epoxy or something with more psi hold. I would not try that until you prove whatever design you come up with. Perhaps hair curlers will work fine without permanent glue and nylon washers. I'll try that on mine too and see how it works.

I've bought and tried 80-90% of mods out there at this stage. The exclusions being some of the monster cans like the Emperor, for now at least. Have had a Huggett Magna though.

Problem with picking a mod is that it's never the 'best mod', it's the 'best mod for a specific gun'. In my experience it's not only about the moderator itself but about the particular sound signature of the gun as well as the design of its shroud system (or possibly lack thereof). This is regardless of whether they at similar power levels.

For instance, the absolute best mod for my RW 35fpe 0.22 is the huma mod40, followed closely by the huma mod30 that is a full segment longer. Sound is about the same but the pitch of the fat one is lower/more pleasant. This is followed by the HW silencer and Donnyfl koi. Last and most definitely least is the Donnyfl Sumo which compared to the others sounds more like a megaphone and as a rough guide measures about 6db louder than any of the others.

So I'd be tempted to label the Sumo 'crap' but switch to my impact set at a similar power level and suddenly the Koi is best with both Huma's as well as that previously horrible sumo in very close second.

Bottom line is test if you can.

That said the most reliably 'good'/foolproof mods I've found tend to be the long, roughly 30mm OD ones like the huggett snipe, huma MOD30, Donnyfl Koi and HW. While not necessarily 'best' this seems to be the best formula to work in a wide range of stuff. Usually the big fat mods are more picky and can have a bit of a sharp pitch/ping on some guns as if resonating or occasionally just downright suck. If you really want a big OD mod the Huma MOD40 has been the most universally forgiving/good one I've tried and is probably the best choice for a 30cal upgrade overall in my opinion.

I don't know if you are pushing a lot of air then quiet is only up to the point of not affecting your ears shooting...today I tested my texan 308 filled to 3300 psi with the power spring--the barrel treaded for a shogun in a 12' x 40' closed space and I could shoot it without the need of protection..for me that is great could I shoot it in the back yard no ..I don't have a 200y back yard...the only way I have seen powerful pcp mouse fart quiet is with a deep cones supresor design in a shroud..like the one in the taipan because they strip the air first ..they are way better than the ones used on the crickets.

If for 60 ftlbs and under, STO really does make a discernable difference.

All the Donnys except the emperor or a ronin with extender sound the same to me, which is simply loud.

My best solution is a heavily modified Huma, where I drilled a hundred 3/8" holes in the walls, emptied the internal materials to free up more slack space for air that was stripped, lined the front of each baffle with felt, wrapped tube with fleece, and put little cones in the internals to create extra stripping/diversion. Not THAT is TRULY mousefart quiet. Only downside is that the diameter balloons out from 1.5" to 2.5", but I don't mind that.
