What happens when squirrel meets .30 cal...

Nothing impressive

I was expecting pellet will easily go through, nope - those creatures have really tough scull

Pulsar HP .30 JSB 50gr headshot from approx 30 yards, top of the pine tree

It killed instantly but surprisingly didn't get through, if it will be bit warmer tomorrow will try to recover pellet to see but I doubt it expanded

I should switch to Predators I guess

Even .25 Predators usually cause way more damage

How in the heck did a .30 pellet NOT go through... my brain is having a tough time wrapping itself around that, unless you shot at low power...

That was my exact question. I was expecting at least half of squirrel head off, smack was very loud. I never shoot squirrels with .30, I have .25 and .22 for that

but this one popped up on top of the tree and I realized by the time I'll switch guns, it will be gone.

To my surprise, it was just a bit more blood but nothing extreme

It was Pulsar HP on max power at approx 70 FPE just 30 yards away

Maybe it was some strange angle, squirrel was at the top of the tree

It was pouring rain all day, I didn't go to recover pellet to check if it expanded well
