What does a Neanderthal do with a .50 air pistol? (Warning- GRAPHIC!)

'Drill' ventilation holes in his new burn-barrel, of course! Can't believe you 'serious' air gunners didn't know that.

But the weird thing is how .495" balls drill 1" holes!

It's a .50 Quackenbush detuned to get TWO consistent shots per 3000 PSI fill with 181 grain .495" swaged round-balls at 580 FPS and 135 foot-pounds, and a third shot about 475 FPS. Very accurate, I once installed a Crosman shoulder stock and 3-9X rifle scope and shot 5 consecutive two-shot groups at 50 yards that averaged 1.10" c-t-c; all ten shots went into 2.5" c-t-c. Due to the shot-sequence violence of a very heavy hammer-blow and huge blast/jet effect, as a pistol the shots and groups tend to wander a bit with minute inconsistencies in hold and/or rest.

I had 3 of those Quackenbush pistols. I should have kept them. At this point in time they could have been tuned for an actual string although tethering could have been an option. As I considered them overly large I wanted custom lefty carbine stocks made.

Some guy bought all 3. Probably still has them. In folly ripe in reason rotten. Oh well.

By the way, those cans are non existent around here anymore. Get stolen for scrap. I cut both tops off 55 gallon steel drum & ventilate it with Sumatra .25.

James and Spur, Texas-

James, in response to your post and knowing you enjoy .25 calibers, I just can't resist TORTURING you with this photo of a gorgeous, ambidextrous Corcoran-stocked .25 Quackenbush I owned... until someone gave enough $$$$$$$$$$$$ to part with it.

Spur, no it's not the AoA gun. I won it in the Cecil Whiteside estate auction about 7 years ago. By the way, most of my maternal relatives lived in Spur; and I always considered our visits there to be the highest adventures of my youth. It just didn't get no better'n stalking BIG Texas jacks with a classic Winchester pump-rifle and pocket-full of .22 Shorts through mesquite and cactus RATTLEBUG cover! Unfortunately my last relative living there passed away a couple months ago (cousin Rush McLaughlin), and my last surviving Spur relative now lives in Lubbock. Spur being such a small town, you might have known Mike, Karen, Howard, or Mary Thomas (my cousins, uncle, and aunt).

"You’re welcome for the green ball, Douche." I suggest you read the posting rules, Amigo.

BTW, I was (obviously) making a joke about your forum name and being humor-"challenged" (that's what that little winky-face means, FYI). But apparently the humor-"challenged" part is no joke.

Happy Shooting,

Ron

Fair enough about having missed the humor. I did exactly that (including the import of the winky), proving your point! My apologies.

My immediate thought on seeing your reference to my forum name was that it must have been you that gave me a red ball stating as a reason "I don't like his handle".

Lesson learned.

P.s. Just tried to give you a green ball with "Provocative Humorist" as the comment. It was not allowed which makes sense given the likelihood of ball wars. I figured you might appreciate it given the reason you gave with the red ball you gave me. Oh well, I tried.
