What do you fill your BUM bags with?

Bean bag (re)fill. Amazon, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, arts & crafts stores, etc.

Cut up pellet packaging that pyramid air and airgun depot use for packing pellets. Cut it up about 1 cubic inch size and fill 80 percent.

Buckwheat hulls. Definitely heavier, but more dense (and stable?) than the lighter, synthetic fills.

Another vote for BUCKWHEAT HULLS

Different fill types for different bags and applications... like others have said buckwheat hulls, Air soft BB’s or rice. I even have a large bag with synthetic pillow stuffing(pic.) it’s perfect for that application. Just don’t let the rice get wet!!!

I use light weight bean bag foam. I added a clip to the bag's loop and can hang the bag on my rear belt loop. This allows hands free while hunting or just walking. Light is the best. If the foam crushes just add a little more once in a while.

Styrofoam peanuts salvaged out of shipments I've gotten. They do eventually crush down but last a lot longer than you'd think.

Brass polishing media. Walnut hulls or corn cobb media.

These closed cell foam piece cut up work great as they won’t absorb water on rainy matches and are light weight yet supportive.

I have tried lots of different fillers and while the cork is heavier than most other fills, it retains its great support without crushing. It makes a big difference when seated. Try one out the next time someone has one at a match.

Unless you've already purchased one, you might look at the meditation cushions (yoga) on Amazon. They come in a bunch of sizes and shapes and pre-filled with buckwheat hulls. That's where I got my bag for Open class about two years ago and it's been great. Mine came much too full but had a zipper where I could remove some until it got just right. After removal, the buckwheat feels like it kinda locks together and holds it's shape.

I was helping a Hunter class shooter that is considering switching over to Open. His bag is full of some kinda lightweight small chunks, seems like maybe closed cell foam. Anyway, the filling in that bag wouldn't build up and hold it's shape behind my rear end like the buckwheat does. I kept feeling like it was gonna kick me out the back and dump me over backwards, much prefer my buckwheat. 

We've used it all, pretty much. The lightest was rolled corkbits that lasted about 17 years in my wife's bag. Unfortunately I didn't buy any for mine at the time and haven't seen it since. I had corncob media in mine for a while but it weighed a LOT. After seeing Franklink's bag, I bought a couple and also made a couple of bigger ones and bought the buckwheat hull media from a place in Maine fairly cheaply. Buy more than you think you will need.... it takes a lot to fill the normal bum bags. Feels very cushy and has been holding up well without being real heavy. It's our favorite for sure.

The bean bag fill is good if you can find the small ball shaped fill... very light and holds up somewhat well, but the most common stuff breaks down quickly so you'll be filling every few uses.

Of course, it all works, so it's up to the individual how extravagant they want to be.

I use buckwheat hulls in mine. They don't compress so they last forever. For a bumbag I'm using a meditation cushion I bought off of amazon. It has the same dimensions as a creedmoor bum bag but with a different exterior. Works great.

i have been using a bean bag chair i found in a dumpster 20 years ago, mixture of styreofoam bbs and little slices of foam, cheap , light and works great needs top off 3 handfulls yearly.

How many kilograms of cork will I need to buy to fill a good size bum bag?

I bought 8 lbs whatever that is in kilos I used about 1/2 of it in a normal size bum bag I bought from RAW. 

I don’t see the bag on their website any longer. I would probably order 6 lbs if I were to do it again.

I actually used some Johnny Cat I had laying around. It’s a bit heavy but it does the job

I tried the buckwheat hulls but it was like carrying a cinder block around so l went back to Styrofoam beads. They settle and compact really bad. After adding more about 10 times they stop compacting. Don
