What do I do? (scope missing in shipping)

Dave I’m an eBay seller and EBay will not and never have protected sellers , they are extending undelivered item case by 10 days for us and are aware of the post problem(s) but trust me Ebay don’t ever agree with sellers Never. The sorting machines the post office utilized say in Denver all 11 of them were taken out of building before election , makes one wonder don’t it

As an ebay seller, what do you think I should do? I know the seller didn't cause this but from my understanding its the sellers responsibility to make right.. be it replacement/refund and then file insurance claim if needed. I cant report the missing item to USPS, I asked today and they said its probably just held up somewhere in the facility and will get moving again once it is found. They said until the tracking says "missing" or "lost", which it will automatically do after a "lengthy" period of time, they cannot do anything about it. Their tracking system was actually down when I called so they couldnt give me any info other than its not on the truck for delivery today.

I've sold a lot on ebay also but never had anything like this happen. If I was on the other end I think I would probably ask for another 2-3 days and if it doesnt move I would send a replacement or refund and ask politely that the person return/refund me back if both show up.

I've had I think 6 packages show up now that were ordered after this one, most first class mail (this is priority 2 day) and some even went through the same sorting facility and never slowed down... all were a day or three late.

For the record, I'm not trying to get something free here. I just want to shoot my gun that has been sitting on my bench for two weeks. Ironically I bought off ebay instead of AGD or Pyramyd because I wanted it sooner than the usual week wait before they ship. I don't have another scope to use unless I take one off my 22lr and I dont want to do that.

I contacted the seller, ebay made me open a case for missing item but I told the seller I'm just contacting them to see what they suggest we do. I wont escalate it to ebay unless they dont respond and the item doesnt move again before this coming weekend. Pretty sure we only have 30 days to report an issue with an order, already more than half way there so I wanted to make sure there was record of this happening just in case. I guess one good thing is that it was "guaranteed" to arrive a long time ago so ebay gave me a $5 credit.

Well the seller responded and said "we sincerely apologize about the delay, unfortunately due to covid things have slowed down, your item is still in transit, please be patient". Honestly I was expecting a little more reassurance than a generic response but I guess it is what it is.. not moving for 10+ days doesnt really qualify as "in transit" to me but hopefully it gets back to moving again here soon!

I too as well sell eBay. I’m sorry for your loss as a result of non-delivery items.
Fortunately, in my 10 years and thousands of transactions only two have disappeared into the USPS black hole. Both times they took care of the losses. I also failed to mention file with what ever pay service was used. (PayPal, CC, etc.)

Filed last month on a Dewalt planer they had all documents (the Postal Service) they sent a letter stating yes priority is covered up to $100 your item value is listed on receipt you provided from ebay as 99.25 we are issueing a check for $55.00 WTF next day I get check for $69.00 double WTF and buyer 2 days after that got item that had been through hell. Then there is the part where the Post Office is broke Geez do you think

The US Postal is like a GM auto broke looking for a bail out , I can see theirs this Kung flu going on but the postal problem is poor business planning , execution and managing. When I went to my local post office and spoke to supervisor about above mentioned item she literally said yes we know but what would you like us to do about it. Now I just stood there and calmly said well I don’t know that’s your job and I was just asking as I have a problem. She walked OFF! This country has lost so much of what makes it great I’m a Veteran and still like to think that counted for something but maybe not to much anymore.

Just hang on tight I know it sucks but the seller can and will file a mail missing case ,I’m sure he already has but he cannot file a claim until 30 days from the missing in action so just hang on tight and hopefully the darn thing will show up soon

FWIW, I think it's just hung up in the mail. I shipped a stock to a member 3-day Priority and it took the better part of a month to get delivered. Tracking was not updated for weeks. Local PO had the same info as online. Blame resides with online purchasing during Covid, USPS opening several mothballed plants to handle the load and the Trump-lackey Postmaster General DeJoy eliminating all overtime. When the workday is done, just go home no matter how much is left. I'll bet it shows up.
