What Airgun would you want to have after Complete Economic & Social Collapse?

My customized Ruger 10/22 with several 25 round HC magazines, and few bricks of CCI Velocitar ammo

Any thoughts on the FX Dreamline? Also, any thoughts on the slugs vs. pellets?

A good .22 cal rifle or pistol and a spring piston or pump up air rifle.

No problem with adding "plus my Goldilocks-Uber-hand-cannon-AR-multi-caliber-40MW-laser-plasma-vaporizer" but at least add the damn airgun you'd want.

My buddy Chip Smith's Fully custom Titanium .25 cal with a benchmark barrel.

I would go with a .22 condor n mine 308 texan easy to pump 3000psi easy to repair with basic tools...worst case a really good slingshot would do the trick..

A simple springer, maybe some MSP's. After "complete economic and social collapse" a compressed air supply might be hard to come by.

What we once thought was a powerful thud coming out of one of our 900 FPS pcp against a raccoon or squirrel using predator polymags, will sound like a little “tink “ with a lofty trajectory seen thru our scope as we see a crazed 320 lb villain 50 yards away, coming at us all loaded on “real pcp”. All of a sudden that expensive impact has now become a swinging hammer tool to try and slow down that hulk. Then, he grabs it by the power plenum and snaps the gun in half, while you stand there in a puddle of your own urine.

i agree with the others that recommended true powder burners in this situation. Why, just tonight my son and I loaded up some real ammo, 100 rounds of 7-08, and tomorrow 200 of 22-250. Need to protect my toilet paper stash.

But, to play along, my Beeman RX1 gas ram is good for meat in the pot. Springers will rule over a pcp relying on an outside air source for power in this scenario. Compressors need power, and your tanks will be empty. You can say hand pump, but why stupidly use up needed calories and energy for a fight or flight situation that may arise?

Living out in the sticks, having good/friendly/armed neighbors does have it's advantages

These what iff's are kinda fun.

Airgun eh....well thinking it would be used to fill a stew pot all you would really need is something that can take small critters. A collapse is going to mean on electricity so no filling to 4000# your fancy PCP, so those are off the table for anything long haul. So that is going to leave us spring and MSP, and MSP's are good enough for tree rats.

If you are worried about biped "pests" then things have gone into Twilight Zone Old Man in the Cave territory and I really don't care to go down that road.



And hurry you children get out your google and check out that reference. 

For sure firearms would have a place for self defense in such a scenario, but I do think airguns would to.

Would you rather harvest an animal with a loud firearm, or a quiet, powerful .30 to .45? 

In that kind of scenario you would probably want to keep your gun as silent as possible, so no firearms.

I own a few pcp, hand pump and compressor..

But end of world gun is a Springer or GasNitro.!!

Definitely would keep my New Hatsan Blitz .22, for primary ,, but have gamo slung across my back, for back up and endless shots...Have fun in a gun battle when u run out of air with pcp,, or a swarm of zombies .. lol

I have 6 mags for each gun, and a few thousand rounds, ready to load and go.

Wife says OMG crazy!!. Lol,, but ready.

That is a nice looking compressor. But even gasoline might be impossible to get after a time in such a situation. Springer, gas ram, or MSP would seem to be the way to go in an absolute SHTF situation, at least after some time. And we are talking small game harvesting here, not so much self defense.
