We've All Done It, Time To Fess Up.

never had an axidental shot go off with air gun or pb , so i guess im lucky there (or just follow good gun safety)

but i did have a case with an airsoft rifle one time .

had turned in an electrical g36c asult rifle for a high power output tune and after paying premium price i picked it up in its case .

got home and into the livingroom , opened the case up and wanted to check out the rifle ... it was without a magasin and i did rack the loading handle two times so it should have been clear , then took the sfety off and pulled the trigger with the gun pointing muzzle into the floor some how the moron that had "tuned" it had jammed a pellet in the barrel , and my trigger pull resulted in a 6mm plastic bb hitting my beautiful oak floorboard and putting an ugly dent in it before ricochetting into the tv screen and breaking it :p

partialy my foult , but by dang that fellow got a good werbal asult that day !

It's kinda cool that this thread might save some money and embarrassment to someone down the line.
I never really gave the whole scope clearing but not the barrel much thought. So thanks guys I feel like I learned a good safety lesson from this. Seeing how I do alot of patio door sniping I will be more aware now, I'm sure it would have been just a matter of time before I clipped something.

Well recently i got m new ruger .22 cal Springer and decided to sight it in. Well little did I know that it was shooting through my backstop as well as my fence. Well soon after in was questioned about what was i shooting that was metal. Well I replied nothing but afterwards I walked by my barn. And with a quick looking noticed a dent in the barn. As well as another and another. Had to repaint the barn. Now my backstop consists of many many layers of wood with my woodpile just behind it.

When i was younger I ran around the house playing cops and robbers with a spring powered airsoft gun. Had lots of fun shooting at everything outside of the house but then it became too hot outside to shoot and decided to target practice in my house. I missed the target and hit the ceiling light causing destruction to the bulb and the frame :D. Luckily my parents don't really look up much and didn't notice the damage after I replaced the lightbulb.

First week with my new benjamin trail xl. I was cleaning it with cleaning pellets they would hit the hardwood floor bounce off the the closet door hit the ceiling and land on the bed behind me. So trying to think a step ahead I decided that I really didn't want to search the whole room to find all those pellets when it was time to clean up. I got my one of wife's pillows off the kitchen chairs and shot into that. Blew a hole right through it both sides. Lol stuffing was everywhere. Now if I could only find my brain. Luckily I have an awesome wife who just laughed and called me a dumbass

A few months ago, I was shooting my marauder over the chrony. When I was going to put the gun on safe, my finger accidentally pulled on the trigger and I shot through the garage door. I'm just lucky I wasn't pointing the gun towards the house or at my foot when the marauder went off. I know my wife has seen the hole in the garage door but she hasn't said a thing about it.

Out shooting targets with my good buddy and his new .22HMR last year. We were shooting from the driver side while resting the rifles on the hood with bags. I shot, he shot, etc. well somehow between loading our positions shifted and like others, my scope was clear, but my muzzle wasn't. I ended up splitting his antenna right in half. We didn't know WHAT had happened initially. The twang of it hitting the antenna was deafening and we were incredibly confused. 2-3 minutes later we were ROLLING when we figured out what had happened. Luckily it didn't ricochet back at us or laterally into his window. Needless to say we don't shoot off his truck (or mine) anymore.

Don't feel bad
I was showing off my Benjamin Marauder Pistol with carbine stock attached... to a few people including my 24 year old son.
I loaded the magazine and closed the bolt...
Unknown to me that my little finger was touching the hair trigger I set up....
POP, out through the living room window and storm window....

Man was I embarrassed, I have been around guns all my life.....and taught my sons the correct way to handle rifles...
At least I had the good sense to have the barrel always pointing away from people...

I am constantly reminded of this mistake, by wife and others that she tells.....

In fact, I still get upset with myself thinking I did such a foolish thing.....
I know this will never happen again.....safety always comes on while loading of showing....

I've got two one oldie but goodie, lined up on a starling on my back yard fence line from the upstairs bed room window being real sniper like was going to shoot from inside the bedroom out the window (from about 2 feet) got a good line on the starling bird never saw me until i pulled the trigger and he flew away. What the heck. I had him dead to right must be something wrong with my zero then i lower the Cricket and saw a 5.5 mm hole in my bed room window track plus a one inch chip as well (scope clearance), now every time i attempt to shoot out the bedroom window the wife reminds me not to break anything.

Second story, i had the cricket for a week or so and was becoming more familar with it so i pulled the stock off to see the how the trigger was all laid out, after the stock was off, i couldn't remember if i checked to clear the barrel, so I stopped and figured i would put it all back together and take it out side and clear it properlying. Gently put the two sections back together flipped the rifle on its side squeeze the two to line up the bottom stock screw and POP the 18.1 grain JSB ran out the barrel and slammed into my stove two inches right of the display putting a nice size dent in my wifes stove (proper barrel clearing), again needless to say every time i pick up the Cricket she is quick to chime in don't break anything.

Glad to say that i've had no other unsafe gun handling issues in the last 12 months.

here I go. I rebuilt a gate at my house, so I have some old fence boards stacked up. I was zeroing my synrod at 10 yards for a rat job. I leaned two fence boards up and took one shot. My synrod is very quiet, so all I expect to hear is pellet hitting the fence board. Instead I hear broken glass. Crap! What could that be? My wife is a florist, she stacked up some plastic bins full of glass vases a bit behind where I put up the fence boards. The pellet had passed through the boards, the bin, and three vases. I was just about to tell her, she interrupted me mid sentence to tell me she was taking me out to lunch. Its been a month, I still haven't told her. I'll get to it.

LOL!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that has done something and an instant later wonders to oneself "What the hell were you thinking??!!"

This past March was in the heat of battle with the "Squirrel Wars" in Modoc County, CA and pulled a dumb stunt. I had been parked all day in one spot taking out the darn critters using several fire breathing rifles, and in the late afternoon realized the varmints were starting to pop up and munch the alfalfa within only yards of me.... they had not come out all day around the truck and were now very hungry. Stood up and saw dozens around the truck 10-30 yards out so quickly retrieved my AirWolf and dispatched several. Started tracking on another that was running towards the truck as his home was right under the front bumper (looked later) .. pressed the trigger and heard a loud "clink"......

"What the.... .DAMN!! Well HELLO D.A. !!! Your barrel is about 1.5 inches BELOW line of sight of the scope and you just ricocheted a 18gr pellet doing 950fps off the roof of your brand new Toyota truck ... D.A.!!"

Left a dent about 3/4 inch long and popped a little paint...

About 90 seconds later while looking at the damage ... saw the critter making a rather easy paced beeline for a line of grass about 15 yards out from front left of the truck.... he never made it!
