Went Shooting today and I had a Problem with a HI end Optic

Hi well I decided to go out with my Edgun R-5 .30 cal , it was very windy 25-40mph , and severe rain , I came in after testing some ammo on steel plates ,well I came in and stripped down gun and removed scope and dried out things , when I got to the Schmidt and Bender 5x45 Hi -Power PM2 with Tremor 3 Reticle

I then decided to look at lens they had some dusst so I brushed it off and blew out and then polished glass , I then looked threw it and to my surprise I see an object at 5 mils down and 6.5 mil to the right , I had to double check lens and they are fine , I tapped hard on scope as My thought is too much turret grease and it dripped on the lens or a small micro chunk of grease fell inside the occular lens . well I never got it to pop off Lens , so This thing is going to Schmidt and Bender in AM .

I have to say I am a bit disappointed in the fact this scope passed Quality control . I do know in like 2014 they had some QC issues and lost 1 Military contract but I had never had an issue with 5 or 6 PM2 scopes I have used since the 1980s till now . I own a 5x25 for past decade and it works Great , I got this unit as it was about 1 month ago I had gotten it to review and sell it or keep it and sell other higher end scope , Once I decided to really test it , I might of had it on 3 guns and like 10 hours of use , for the Price point Qc could be better . lets see how service is ,

I can say the 10 hours I have behind this glass is , The glass is very Hi quality and the turrets are precise The LOW MTC turret is a big improvement for me , I however think when you in this range of scope the upgrade features are alot of money for what you get .anyway I can see clearly at about 36x the 3 times I used it , I do believe the glass is good enough to use most days up to 35x and maybe a handful of days when conditions are good can you use it at 45x , The parallax is very smooth and the reticle has no abnormalities while zooming up or down , I can say this scope is a true 5x where as the PM2 5x25 is really a 6.5x due to tunneling , in this model they fixed it and the low end is as good as the high end .

here it is on my Edgun R5 and what it is it is Tremor 3

I had to send my S&B 3-20x50 back twice because the MTC elevation turret lost it's clicks (the sound and the detents could not be felt), then the guy who serviced it did not assemble the turret back together correctly so back it went again.

They paid for shipping both times so at least that.

It's good now though.

I think once in a while a spec of dust gets stuck on the lens, read of every brand having an occasional problem like this.

NOW MY USOPTIC BROKE OHH NO

So listen to this , I put on my US Optics B25 , with H102 reticle and I shot about 150 slugsat targets all good , then I decided to shoot some pellets , I filled gun , loaded a 44.5Gr JSB and I looked threw US OPTIC ,, I could not see threw scope , I glanced and both caps were open I removed scope now this one is broke , it looks like there is a black piece of paper or plastic inside scope and it is blocking the lens ,, GRRRRRRRRRRR

I popped on my IOR which I know I cant break lol and called US OPTIC , they said ok yes sounds like oclur coating came loose from tube , I said really ? I said gee this sucks , Imagine if this was a battle scope , Id be a goner , at least the PM@ I could of still shot this one no go , My first USO scope since I owned a ST37 10x scope from themm in 1990s and it was like a tank , here is uso I try to take image threw glass ugg

I am starting to think the Miltary Optics which were king for decades seem to have lost their quality , it was unheard of to have scopes in this class break playing with toy air rifles , both scopes rathed for 50 BMG geeze

check out what i am seeing threw the US OPTIC B-25

PS Someone asked what Schmidt and bender diales down to with Parallax , I own 2 pm2 one is 10 yards other is 30 yards . , but to be honest , many of the 40 and 5o yard min are clear at 20 yards unless used at highest mag

The worst of the pricey scopes I've owned was a USO 3.2-17. It had horrible glass, even after I sent it back to them, so I sold it at a loss.

Two friends have USO's. Man I swear these are not anywhere close to being what they are touted to be!

One of them is that Sniper 10x reproduction USO makes, it is awful in glass and honestly seems to be broke! He won't send it back, lol, so when he brings that 308 out and we shoot it we laugh, it's that bad.

The other friend doesn't shoot much, he's very old. He has the old 3.8-22 baseball bat. We put on the required dope for 1000Y, which I ranged with my Vectronics PLRF05 to confirm distance with, dialed however many MOA's required and the scope was so far off we couldn't see where he was hitting. Turned out that the tracking was 8 minutes off! Of course he hasn't sent it off either. Guess I have some funky friends, lol. 😕

Sorry to hear of this failure but I'm not sure what S&B could have done better as far as "quality control". You say you had it for a month on 3 guns? If you didn't notice it at those uses I don't see how anyone else could have noticed it during a check if it wasn't there. Anything can fail and it is frustrating. If they fix it quickly then I'd consider that as well.

Hi Bandg what I was saying a few years ago SB had issues with grease doing on lens like wrong quality or over greased ,and got on lens so I was saying yes they had this problem a few years back , they should be more careful or say do more QC , like if it came off of turret from an impact then scopes should be put threw a series of testing to see if it can happen , remember both scopes I had issues with are being Deployed , dont you think things should have extensive testing in $$$ price range and knowing peoples lifes are on line with both optics is all I am saying ,LOU

this is what I mean they did have issues prior

UPDATE I SENT MY B-25 SCOPE IN FOR REPAIR AS SOMETHING INTERNALLY WAS BLOCKING THE LENS ,

I CALLED NOVEMBER 12 THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO CHECK AND FIX IT ,

I CALLED AGAIN ON NOV 26TH AND THEY SAID ANOTHER 3 TO 4 WEEKS , tHEY ALREADY HAD IT A MONTH , HORRIBLE SERVICE ,

i HAD ISSUES WITH 2 SCOPES THE SAME TIME IN THE END OF OCTOBER , SCHMIDT AND BENDER FIXED THE PM2 IN A WEEK AND PAID SHIPPING BOTH WAYS , US OPTICS DID NOT PAY SHIPPING AND I FEEL THIS MUCH TIME IS EXCESSIVE TO REPAIR A SCOPE THAT REQUIRES LIKE UNDER 1 HOUR OF LABOR . TO FIX IT COME ON 2.5 MONTHS AND IT BLOWS HUNTING SEASON AS WELL . I DO HAVEE SPARES BUT IMAGINE SAVING FOR THIS FOR A YEAR AND YOU BLOW YOUR HUNT OR WORSE ,LOU
