HI hope everyone is doing well , I have not posted in a while so here goes ,
Today Titus and I went out for squirrels , Today we have my Taipan veteran it has a 24 inch slug barrel and I reinstalled the oem moderator and also fitted it with a donny fl , The gun is using a Huma regulator , I modified the valve and manifold and hammer , So this gun is shooting JSB Knockouts at about 1000 fps and it sounds like it is my leshiy at 12fpe , so being is is fairly light super accurate and silent makes it the perfect squirrel setup.
I mounted my ATN 5-50 thermal and loaded my profile , I actually have 120 gun profiles for this thermal for each gun/ammo , So we hit woods no more then 5 minutes in I turned on thermal and scanned I saw 2 squirrels one about 38 yards and the other about 80 yards on top of a tree cutting nuts , I shot the closer one cocked gun fast as I could he didnt hear shot but heard thud , He started leaving tree I lead my shot about 1 body length lead and shot , both were dead before hitting ground here is pic of them in woods with gun and also a picture of how I skin squirrels , I cut around legs and threw tail bone and I hold on to back legs and give titus the tail , even at 13 he can still rip off entire skin in 1 or 1 trys lol . we both getting old .
So after skinning I gave both to him and pointed to house and texted wife to cook them for his breakfast . I stayed hunting . got 2 more , Great way to see them with all green leaves , I use binoculars latter when leaves fall
Here is a picture of same taipan with the New Razor lll 1-10 ffp scope , this scope was hard for me to get in my hands , I have been using it on a few guns now the past few weeks and It is excellent hunting scope and I love how clear glass is and how precise it is , I have over 100 chipmunks under its belt and a dozen squirrels , It is also very light for Tier 1 glass , When I use it for my taipan my hold for the JSB KO slugs is exactly 2 mils at 109 yds and my 34 gr MP slugs are 2.5 mils so has a ton of hold over here is reticle pic , and it isnt cluttered I can spot my trace even with a low power scope , where as say I used a SWFA I would never see trace at same powers , It also has 11 mils of hold over and boasts 30 mils of elevation so total of 44 , I have tested scope and it is spot on so far and I has held zero , even on my 6,5 creedmore and a 300wm . I have shot it out to 600 yds , I have to say for image quality this blows away the swfa hd and the trigicon accupoint 1-8 .hmm reticle looks poor sorry
