Hello Airgun Nation. I'm Sid from Ohio. Been reading a few topics here on & off and decided to join to see what was going on with Ted and Steve after a lot of airgun channels got shut down on YouTube. Their videos got me interested in airguns and I've been bit by the bug for 4 years now and have several springers and PCPs for different plinking and hunting purposes.

I have been wanting to learn more about pcp's and this site is the best place to get an education. These past few weeks have taken me on a mental roller coaster trying to decide on what should be my first pcp. Thank you all for contributing and doing so in such a positive and supporting manner. I have read a great deal and I cannot recall seeing one post that was condescending which is pretty encouraging in internet forums these days. I needed to sign up in case I have questions and also to help support those affected by the Youtube crap.

Hi my name is Dale Walker or Boyd answer to both. 64 yrs old and love anything that fires a projectile legally. My first forum. From Minnesota and I go thru lots of guns. I just have to see and try them all. Just got a Crown .25 and it is a keeper. Love to hunt, target shoot and plink. I hope I can contribute.

I recently became interested in air guns as a way to practice my shooting without breaking the bank. So like most folks I hopped on YouTube to see what I could find. That is were i came across Ted, Steve and Joe R.'s channels. After watching a great number videos and quit frankly being amazed by some of the skills you folks have i picked up a Diana 34p, then Bone Collector, then a Daisy 1101, then a Hatsan model 95 (I think we see where this going. Lol.)

I thought it was time to join the forum and thank everyone for sharing their passion and in Joe's case an off beat but delightful sense of humor. I still chuckle at the two midget heads comment.

Anyhow, just thought I would introduce myself before tossing out a bunch of questions.I

Well, I guess I should formally introduce myself. I've been here a few days now so here it goes.

My name is Josh and I'm 26. I got my first air rifle, Daisy Model 840 Grizzly, when I was about 5-6 years old. I was the happiest kid in my town. My dad, never really one to spend much time with me back then, gave me a crash course in safety and told me if I ever shot something that wasn't my target that I'd get a whoopin. I had to learn accuracy on my own. I shot as often as I could and still do. I could probably still name every air gun I've had over the years since then, but currently I have the Ruger Impact Max .22 from Umarex. I hope to one day get a PCP, I saw one many years ago and couldn't keep the grin off my face. 

So I guess that's about all for me.

Hi everyone. I’m an avid shooter who is interested in getting into air gunning. I can happily discuss the difdeeences between 5.56 and .223. The benefits of 300 black, Why a 30-30 is the perfect brush gun, and ang a f a dozen more firearms topics, but I have no idea where to start with an air gun. I don’t understand the types, when they should be used. Pros and cons etc. 

The Fed park up the road from me put in a range. I’d love to try shooting there. My farm also has troubles with ground squirrels. So varmit hunting would be a plus too. I would appreciate any advice you guys could give me. In the mean time I will bee looking around the forum.

Just a word on going from firearms to airguns. Faster is not better in airguns. Keep you pellet velocity under 1000 fps or the sound barrer. 
It's the difference between groups and patterns.

Hi AGM Bullitt, Welcome to A.N. I can't resist advising you to, first, ditch a few of those other expensive hobbies. Second, consider PCP's for the best experience with air gunning. I know there are people out there who are perfectly happy with the spring, pump, and co2. Third, for accuracy the PCP is tops. Forth, the multi shot capability when target shooting and hunting can't be beat.
​Yes costs can mount up. However the pleasure I get of shooting as good or better than fellas shooting centerfire at 100 meters is a boost. Yes I always want more "stuff." to enable me to do better but I can make do with a dive tank, a pump, a couple rifles, [sold off some of my others] a couple good scopes, and pellets.
​Once a week I'm out at the range before sun up and shoot my air rifles first, then switch to centerfire, or the black powder.
​But this isn't about me so here's wishing you all the best with you choices and many an enjoyable hour shooting pellets.
​Whatever you do use JSB pellets.

I’m Mike. My airgunning started as a simple quest to protect my Purple Martin houses from starlings. The property my wife and I bought has a small orchard with Martin houses over looking the trees. Great natural insect control and just wonderful birds to have around. But I noticed the first year we lived here there wasn’t any nesting Martins. So I researched and learned that they rely on humans and need good land lords. That’s also when I learned about the European Starling. I finally got a family nesting last year. We bought my son his first Airgun last year as well. I thought I could also use it for starlings and pesting around the property. I was wrong. If your not within 10-20 yards you can’t hit anything. But it’s just the classic Crosman 760 pumpmaster. Perfect for a 10 year old learning (with adult supervision) how to shoot and ethics. But not for reliable pesting at range. So I bought a $100 springer from Wal-Mart. 1200 FPS it read on the box. Real rifled barrel. Now I was ready for business. WRONG!! I could not shoot anything near a descent group. I know how to shoot. My father is retired Law enforcement officer and collector, my uncle is a gun smith and collector. What the heck? I’ve shot all my life. So the research began on these air rifles and I stumbled onto Pyramid air, Ted, Matt, and Giles just to name a few. And I absolutely love the community and ethics around this sport. Bought my first PCP a little over a month ago and I’m loving it.
Well that’s probably allot more info than anyone really cared to know. But it’s great to be here.

Martinman, I have just sit on a 2nd floor bedroom window and shoot those pesky starling off the feeder. problem solved. 

Brand new to the forum and to real airguns.

I took the family to a DNR range last week and everyone had a great time! Once I started looking for an air rifle that was made of more than cheap plastic, I found a variety that amazed me and a friendly community that is eager to assist. We will be starting out pretty basic with our first rifle and upgrade our collection over time and I look forward to learning from you guys.

Been reading a lot and decided to join. Scott Buck is my name and I spend way too much on my hobbies!! Just coming off motorcycles and my boy received a Marauder as a gift from his buddy and I got hooked on PCPs. My next addiction is at hand and my wallet is quivering.

I'm 51 years old and got into air rifles after shooting feral pigeons at a Dairy farm last fall with my 22 rimfire. Even shooting 29gr bullets at 710fps was too much for indoor shooting.

I bought my first PCP air rifle last November, a Benjamin Maximus 22. It was after only a couple of visits that I knew I'd need a repeater due to how many and how quickly targets (pest birds) presented themselves.

I chose the FX Streamline 22 for my serious pest bird control tool, and it did not disappoint. I was ecstatic when I was hitting Starlings and sparrows at 35 yards, which I considered long shots at the time. The rifle being so accurate and with a good scope, I started making 50 yard shots without a problem.

I took over 100 pigeons with the Streamline and about 300 Starlings in just a couple of months. The farmer recently asked me to shoot skunks, raccoons and woodchucks, so I started looking at a larger caliber.

Last week I bought an FX Wildcat MKII 25 and have shot two skunks. I also shoot the pest birds with it. I quickly got tired of hand pumping so the tank I ordered last week should be in my hands this Friday!

My favorite scope is my new Athlon Argos BTR 6-24x50 FFP. I use that on my Wildcat and use a Hawke Sidewinder 30 SF Tactical 6.5-20x42 on the Streamline. I also have an Air Arms TDR 22 FAC that I use for shooting red squirrels.

I've watched ALL of Ted's videos as well as Matt's, and have been enjoying air rifles more than my firearms, which I've been shooting for 32 years. I'm looking forward to lots more shooting this spring and summer!!

Hi, I’m John and very new to computers/ technology. So much so that my wife is typing this for me. I am hooked on air rifles and live in Australia. I would love to hunt with fellow air rifle lovers. If you live near Echuca/ Moama give us a bell. Oh, by the way, I’m old but not obsolete. Cheers.

Howdy, new guy here. Name is Chase and although not new to guns or even airguns I haven't shot an airgun since I was a young teenager. Not gonna say how long ago that was.
​Got interested in airguns again when I came across a Crosman 1377 in some boxes in the garage and found that all the seals were dried and cracked and not holding pressure. While doing some research on parts for the Crosman, I came across tons of information on Airguns. No idea that have come so far. Not long after that I picked up a Benjamin Marauder in 22 claiber and am having a ball. Haven't gotten more than 300 pellets through the Marauder to date and I am amazed how accurate airguns can be. I'm in trouble now! Might have to put off retirement so I can afford to buy some more airgun stuff. Glad I found this site, hope to learn a lot from you all.

My name is Gideon. I don't recall exactly how, but last week I was exposed to air guns, and was immediately fascinated. I've been devouring information relating to air guns and the air gun market (mainly PCPs), and this forum seemed like a logical next step when I became frustrated by the mostly dead reddit community. For now I'm just window-shopping, and even if I had the money to drop on a high quality rifle I'd probably want to wait. I have no real practical use for one, they're just...so cool! Not to mention unregulated
