I'm an 80-year-old retired aerospace engineer who lives in Southern California's High Mojave Desert.

I enjoy plinking in my desert wilderness environment and target shooting on my 25-50-yard backyard range and my 11-yard indoor range.

I like technical discussions concerning the design, engineering, and ballistic performance of all types of airguns.

I currently own 4 air rifles...all springers (one a gas-piston type), as well as a few Powderburners. I recently acquired a break-barrel .22 cal air pistol.

I hope to share in some interesting discussions with some of you!

Finally! Someone older than me. I'm also a retired aerospace engineer, but you beat me by 4 years. Welcome to the airgun disease. I find them fascinating to experiment with. I've become tired of shooting powderburners. It's so enjoyable to shoot airguns without the need for ear protection.

Welcome to the forum ! I'm north of you, in Prunedale, on 101. Good to see another Californian enjoying airguns.
Like you , got into springers, heavily German Beemans . Hw 55's , 97k , R series. I like the idea on grabbing a can of pellets and going.
Then the " DarkSide" seduced me.

I once owned a Diana 460 Magnum. (Also a Webley Patriot). I once shot a squirrel in a backyard Cottonwood tree. The pellet entered its butt and exited its head! Just bored him out lengthwise!

It was a sickening sight when it landed on the ground.

I live in Apple Valley, a township (not a city) at 3000 ft elevation up the Cajon Pass from Berdoo.

Hi from central cal.

I'm Darin, I got airguns...mrod,prod,hatsan,crosman,sheridan,rws,taipan,co2,pcp,spring and pump. Looking forward to getting more and better. I have been something of an airgun advocate to some of my friends and family. Have managed to instigate the purchase of several marauders by persons in the paintball community(the support equipment being similar). I have a machinst background and tools along with an interest in HM buckley designs. Looking forward to some airgun living.


By the way, Micheal, that rapid in your intro post is Very Nice.

See you are from the central CA. , what part? I'm in Prunedale.
Like you I have way to many airguns, makes it hard to choose when hunting ground squirrels. I've been using my. 22 cal. No 22xx build lately, but have a AZ tuned HW100/ STB to fall back to if needed. Just got done with a .25 cal. Cothran valved 22xx that's in the "smoothing out and tuning phase. Should be a good whacker.

Hi, Ted; not to get too mushy here, but you're my hero! I was hoping that the "Ted" here at AGN was Ted Bier of Ted's Holdover fame, and I wasn't disappointed! I must say, your videos on YouTube (I'm a subscriber) are my go-to source for all things airgun. Your videos are produced well and are very intelligent. The more I learn about you, the more I am impressed. BTW, congrats on your 1st place finish in the Pro Class at 2016 Extreme Benchrest! Very nice :)

I am totally hooked! I recently moved to SoCal where airgun hunting for small game is legal. I started out with a P-Rod. I bagged a lot of bunnies, but soon desired more power with greater accuracy. I currently use a Daystate Pulsar .25. It is great and drives nails at 50 yds. But, I soon desired even more power. (I was still losing too many bunnies down the hole.) I just was informed by AOA that my pre-ordered FX Impact .30 has come in and will be shipped this week! I'm so excited, I'm giddy. I do exclusively night hunting with a Pulsar Digisight LRF N850 night-vision scope.

Well, it's great to be here. I do have one question that I've been dying to ask you, Ted. In your opinion, what is the best distance to zero my FX Impact .30? (I use Predator Polymags.) Later, dude ;-)!

Hi, Hal; I too live in SoCal. I have gotten rid of all my powder-burners. I am exclusively airgun now. I consider airguns to be superior to firearms for small game. The stealth is amazing. I bag more game, by far, with my airgun than I did with my firearm. With a firearm, even a .22, you get one shot; then the game scatters. You might as well come back in a week. With an airgun, you can shoot all day without spooking the animals. It's great! Further, the energy of airguns is more appropriate for small game. Using firearms is like using a sledgehammer to drive nails. I like that I do not have to be as concerned about non-target downrange.

Hi, Mike! I just got my FX Impact .30 (black) today and she's gorgeous! As nice as my Daystate Pulsar .25 (synthetic) is, I already like my Impact better (even though I haven't even fired it yet!) I've watched so many YouTube videos about it, I feel as if I've used it for years. I mounted my Pulsar (no relation) Digisight LRF N850 night-vision scope on it and was planning on taking it to the range tomorrow for the full Monte (zero, chrony, etc.) But, alas; the Predator Polymags that I bought do not fit in the mag! (notwithstanding assurances from the good folks at AOA that they would.) Oh, well; ya live 'n ya learn; am I right, folks? Actually, the learning curve of airgunning is a big part of why I enjoy it.

Which leads me to my main issue: What hunting pellets would you (or anybody out there) recommend for the FX Impact .30 ? Thanks in advance. Airguns forever!
