Welcome to AIRGUN NATION - please introduce yourself here!

Hi, I'm Chris Robinson, 48 and I hail from Blacksburg, Virginia. I started out with a Daisy pump bb gun that was my dad's, and moved up to 22lr when I was 12. After that, I continued to shoot, and sometimes build rifles and pistols. Recently, I decided to look at air rifles/pistols because it gets a little crazy up at the local public gun range, and I'd like to spend time with my 13 year old daughter and teach her how to shoot accurately.

I'm way behind the knowledge curve and will be posting for help and advice, though I have been reading through the forums using the search tool.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi ,My name is Steve I'm 57. I live in London Ky now born and raised in Hyden KY . I spent most of my childhood in the woods with my trusty 10 pump air rifle on my back riding through the wood on my yamaha 1971 60cc motorcycle. Keeping crows out of the dog food was my mission for some reason when I was 11 . When the crows heard the bathroom window opening no matter how stealth I though I was after being shoot at they keep there eyes on that window and would fly to another location on the hill and waited for their opening to come back . I soon added a scope if you could call what I had a scope It looked kind of like this setup but older version .http://airgunmaniac.com/crosman-760-pumpmaster-with-4x15-scope-review/. I spent a lot of time figuring out how that scope worked and where I had to aim once it was set to its max to hit a crow in a tree I know was at least 100 yards away and I didn't stop till I could . Shooting has been a big part of my life . I entered my first 10 meter air pistol competition in the mid 80's with my daisy 717 and won first place in the Blue Grass games I was hooked for life . I got my first spring air rifle in 1987 it was the 1987 rws model 45 with the leather seal and still shoot it today and it's been my small game hunting and target gun . I added the 1980's Tasco 3-9x50 scope that was made in Japan that has great glass the day after I got the gun . I spent a lot of time making a click chart since it had the exposed turrets and the rotational indicating marks . I would set for hours in the woods shooting nuts out of the squirrels mouth after I got my limit for the morning . A few years ago I got the Hatsan 125 sniper 22 cal spring version . I have been working on shooting long distances 100 yards and longer . I like the challenge of the spring gun . At 100 yards I can group pellets in the 4 inch range ,6 inch range at 150 and around 8 inch at 200 yards . That my farthest shots so far . I know that's not a very small grouping but I'm just getting started with the gun and its one hard kicking gun . I have started to become interested in field target matched and I want to give it a try with my old rws 45 springer so I have started making a click chart for my new scope I just added . Once I have it set for 10 to 50 yards I'm going to find the nearest match and give it a try . I have a few knock down field targets to practice on . I have also started shoot 10 meter air pistol again and have entered a on line shooting competition . You mark and number your targets take a photo of the un-shot targets and post it . then you shoot the match in the set time and take another photo of that target and post it . they score it and they keep a running score for the year and at the end of the year the person with the highest scores win .Its a lot of fun . If anyone knows where the nearest field target matches are held from London Ky please let me know .

Hi, my name is Tom and I live in Burlington, Michigan. I bought a Gamo two months ago to shoot some squirrels in my backyard, without disturbing the tranquility of the neighborhood with my 22. I found that I really enjoyed shooting the Gamo but I wanted something a little better so I bought a Daystate Regal. It should arrive today by UPS and I am really looking forward to see what damage this air rifle can do to the Squirrel population.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi, my name is Tim, I'm 56 years old and I started out like probably all of us do by plinking with the BB gun. Back then I wore out too many of them to count. I went from that to a Crossman 22 pellet.. have no idea of the model but my dad owned it before giving it to me and it is long gone. From there I went to rim fire rifles before moving on to center fire and then into muzzle loading. I hadn't picked up a gun since my law enforcement days... twenty years ago. I had no idea there was such an interest in air rifles until I ran across Ted's Holdover and I'm simply amazed. I dug my old Benjamin out of the safe (35 years old) tuned in the scope and put 4 out of 5 shots through the paper at twenty five yards. My son told me about a year ago that he had purchased a Gamo but I didn't think to much about it until we shot together. Now I'm hooked!

Hello all, my name is Dave Monroe I have been into guns my whole life, I think I was 6 when I got my first Daisy. I remember it had a longer barrel than most and it could hold more bb as well. I remeber riding my bike picking cans so that I could go to the local hardware store to buy BBs. I think the cartons where 5,000 ct. But they wouldn't last me long. Over the years I have accumulated many firearms that use for hunting and just for fun. Ammo is very expensive so I began looking into airguns 18 months ago I soon bought a RWS and now I own 15 airguns.

Greetings from Phoenix, Moved out here from New Hampshire. Never knew that PCP technology existed. I loved my little BB guns as a kid, rim-fires and bunny/bird shooting with shotguns. Took a deer on opening day with my Dad, 1st time out, with my grandfathers Winchester 30/30 that I inherited. Very little hunting background, nothing competitive until my childhood Crossman 760 pump finally gave up the ghost and I decided to get a proper airgun, after all these years. I always loved the Gamo that I got my son, shot that with him a little. I got on the net and low and behold the Phoenix area is kinda like airgun mecca? I'm a few miles from AoA and trotted over there to pick the brains of those folks after a couple weeks getting overwhelmed with all the info on the net. I love Teds videos, that crazy Greek dude makes me laugh so hard I snort, and all these folks picking off sparrows at 200yds! Wow, I gotta get something that will let me learn to do that! I felt guilty for tossing my old broken 760 pump in the trash, when it gave up pushing pellets, with a couple of doves still mocking me in my back yard. Once in full drool mode in AoA, standing in front of their wall of airgun dream machines, I was able to narrow it down to a .22 FX Royale, Hawk Airmax 6-24x50 and a nice 75cu. ft. tank. Grabbed a couple tins of JSB's and took her home, sighted her zero @30yds on power2 (to be legal for HFT, see I'm learnin') and off to Mormon Lake to shoot a HFT match. Boy do I have a lot to learn! First time ever shooting by rules and the gang was so friendly and helpful. Beginners luck prevailed and I took 1st in my small Hunter class, so even with my rainbow .22 ballistics I'm hooked on FT! I tried a 25m shoot a couple weekends later at Rio Salado, again super friendly and helpful group for a newbie to shooting sport like me. I liked it, shot a 695, so happy to get a half dozen X's. Not warmed up to bench yet? It just doesn't have a shooting feel for me, more like a let's build it, set it up, measure it, pressure test it, and somebody touch the trigger REAL CAREFUL. Going to try the 50-75 and 100m might do better there. Of course I just shot off some WalMart sand bags, but it was fun. Don't take it as a criticism benchers, I love the precision of it all. I was amazed by all the rigs, even a Thomas that didn't even have a stock? Made me think rail gun or something? I'm thinking non bench silhouette would be a riot, I think there is one you do prone, seated and off hand, gotta find one of those to try. Now I gotta go practice yardage predicting for my FT in a couple days up in Mormon Lake again! Wheel tapes to make, chairgunner app to figure out, ha ha. Am I hopelessly hooked in just 3 short weeks or what! Get ready for the questions all you experienced shooters! So much to learn!!!

Howdy y'all! I hunted with a Crosman 760 decades ago down home in WV with my cousins & uncles. Still have the original with wood stocks. Living in NE Ohio nowadays, I need to find a shooting range, & decent places to hunt that aren't small & overrun. I like muzzleloaders for deer & the like, but all these pesky starlings & rabbits that destroy any attempts at gardening led me to look at these modern magnum air rifles. Perusing Walmart's online sight for them, all 50 pages, led me to the Winchester 1400CS with bipod, 3-9x32mm scope, strap, muzzle break & mossy oak camo stock. All for $213. Also ordered a couple different weights of pellets & the Pellet Pen. I use something similar for my percussion caps & quickly realized it's value afield.
Watching YouTube videos on these modern wonders, It'll be here Friday or Saturday for pick up. Can't wait! I'm retired & partly disabled, with a bad lumbar & hips bone-on-bone. Trying to get it all fixed, so I can hunt again. but this air-style sniper rifle look-alike should enable me to get some hunting done from a sitting position? All these things led me here, as I've been away from the sport for too bloody long...

Welcome to AN. You are off and running, and the look says it all. I haven't the ambition to go into competition but I do love bench and hunting here in New Zealand. I haven't that much to add except encouragement to any one who needs it in this field. I am off out tomorrow, two days late and my trigger finger is telling me, "It's about time too." Keep on enjoying yourself and good shooting.

Hi - I´m Falko from Czech Republic. I have been in love with airguns since I was about ten years old (that´s some 22 years back). I have shot springers all my life and a few years ago, I started getting into PCPs and ballistics. I´m a passionate hunter but unfortunately, airgun hunting is forbidden here so it is a thing for the holiday season. My general goal is the same as every airgunner´s: I want to become better and better and as long as everything isn´t one hole of the diameter of the pellets itself, there is still work to do :)

I´m looking forward to exchanging information with you guys.

Howdy pope! I'm new here myself But have been shooting & hunting for some 50 years. Wore out a Crosman 760 years ago, & just unboxed a Winchester 1400CS just now. I have many cousins in Bratislava, Slovakia from mom's side. Air guns are legal for hunting here, They don't need to be registered...yet, since they aren't firearms. So I'll be sighting this thing in & some pests around here are doomed till I get my car fixed. The holidays are the best excuse in the world to put some game on the table from sharp shooting with these things!
By the by, your user name reminds me of an old Ian Hunter song, white punks on dope!

JimNM - from New Mexico. Just found the forum and have enjoyed it already. I jumped into PCP after a disappointing start with a modern NP airgun. That disaster is history and won't be spoken of again.

My son and I are interested in PCP and he is enrolled in JROTC - which has an air gun team. We both will be learning a lot and shooting all we can.

Thanks for hosting a great resource on the www.

Bob here.Been with air rifles since the early 80's, but never at the level I am now. My first rifle was a Weihrauch HW 30 if I remember correctly. I sold it to a friend for his "home protection" which caused me to chuckle a bit.
I tried to explain things to him, but he held his ground. It was almost painful taking his cash.

I currently have three nice rifles in 177 cal. A TX200, a HW97 and a Walther LGU. They were all personally tuned my myself and each one is as accurate as the other.

I am a member of a few other forums and never get enough when it comes to the great information available from them.

JROTC sounds fun, I wish I had done that! Welcome!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Michael I'm an avid outdoorsman and enjoy hunting and fishing, shooting etc. I was introduced to PCP air guns by Ted 4 years ago. I finally bought my first PCP last year and was hooked. I do a lot of target shooting and hunting with them now and find myself shooting them more than all of my powder burners. I wanted to thank all of you for your insightful posts.

Hi everyone

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been involved in shooting sports in one capacity or another since I was about 10 years old. I've recently been drawn back to airguns because of the price of ammunition, convenience and to itch my "tinkering" bug. My first airgun was a Crosman Pumpmaster. I've also had a couple of Daisy, Beeman and several 1377's. My last project was a carbine-style 1322 . Joining the forum for access to advice, information and camaraderie as I venture into the world of PCPs.

In addition to air rifles/pistols I enjoy slingshots, flying RC models, pipes and cigars, brewing beer, whiskey and bourbon, golf, and raising my two boys. I'm a Virgo and a generous lover. From 9-5 I'm the Director of Service for an IT company in the hospitality vertical
