Hi, I'm Al Lopez in the Central Valley California and I too saw Teds Holdover videos on YouTube. He's making these long shots and well, you know the story. Just recently purchased a rifle after talking to someone at AOA who recommended AirGun Nation forums for starting out with a used pcp rifle. Great advise as I watched the adds here and have been reading all the Forum subjects. My gun history is similar to most back in the good old days (1950's) with a big brother having a BB gun then it was mine as he went to pellet gun and so on. In my early thirties I gave up guns because they bothered my ears and now that I'm 67 and saw Ted on YouTube it sparked my interest in shooting again. So after reading all about pcp rifles and going from I want this gun and that gun I settled on the smooth twist barrel of a FX and not because of any one persons influence but everything I read and the advertising was so good it swayed me to buy one. So right here on this site I purchased a used FX T12 400 .25 cal as my first pcp rifle. I enjoy the rifle and have since built a portable shooting table and bought a gun rest. I asked every body I came in contact with if they lived in the county so I could shoot my pellet gun. Well it paid off as I have two places to shoot and I'm still looking for more. One is an Almond orchard about 10 minutes from my house and the other is a dairy full of squirrels about 20 miles so life is good. I want to thank Michael for all his work and Ted, your a great ambassador for the sport. All I want to know now is what camera is that on Ted's scope with the screen that flips up, I want one on my scope. Thank You, glad I joined this group.

​Here's wishing you every enjoyment with your new found interest. You and I are the same age, however I purchased my first PCP 30 months ago, also second hand, a BSA in .22 and it is a great shooter, and the second was a .25 RAW 1000X. So Here's wishing you all the best with the FX and the hunting. I'm going to be on the lookout for some of your hunting videos when you get to post them.
​I'm in New Zealand and aside from my old stomping grounds that I shoot on I am looking for new areas also. Your prospects for hunting areas sound fine to me.
The last animal I shot was a hare which I boned out - deboned, and put it in the freezer. We needed a meal to take to a potluck lunch at church so I thought the hare would make a fine stew, it was actually my wife Kathy who fixed a fine stew, but only under the condition I didn't tell anyone what it consisted of. The results... many compliments and an empty pot.

Hello Everyone, from Kingston, Ontario (Canada)! I'm another long time hunter/shooter who can credit YouTube channels like TedsHoldover and AirArmsHuntingSA for a new found interest in air rifles. I knew nothing about PCP's 6 months ago, but when I learned about them and saw the accuracy they were achieving, I just had to try it. So, after a 30 year hiatus from air gunning, I borrowed a friends Discovery and both my 6 year old son and I really enjoyed shooting it. I ended up finding a used Gen 1 Marauder .22 and then traded a Leupold scope I wasn't using for a Hawke Sidewinder 6-24 and we were off and running. I'm still trying to get it tuned to not be an air hog, but we've had it out for a few pigeon hunts so far with some great success. It is so enjoyable to be relaxing on the farm and sniping pigeons with such a quiet and effective rifle. My son really loves it... and so do the farmers!

Greetings all. Mark F here from Dallas Texas. I retired 3 years ago and I have re-discovered PCP rifles & pistols for my daily entertainment. I had forgotten how much fun they are. There's hardly a day go by that I don't get some shooting time in. I own a lot if firearms but I really get tired of having to go to a gun-range. PCP has solved the problem. I now have a 25 yard range in my back yard plus I have an abundance of wild critters to take out.

Greetings fellow airgunners. I am new here but have been hanging around another sight for several months. I just found AN and of course I wanted to register. Who can get enough conversation about airguns, right? Well I have recently returned to airguns after many years of using PBs exclusively. In my youth I had a Crosman 760 (still onw it but it needs repair) and later a 1970s Sheridan BS. Sometime around 1990 a second BS was purchased but not used due to a barrel weld failure (now repaired and deadly accurate). This past Christmas I felt nostalgic for a break barrel I had when younger and decided to try a Nitro Piston Crosman. This has lead to my re-obsession with air rifles. I have since purchased a Hatsan Edge Vortex and am loving it. I shoot almost every day and cant wait until this Fall when I intend to use my air rifles for all of my small game hunting.

​While I am happy with my current guns I am planning on adding a PCP to my small collection in the future. Which one is yet to be determined.

Hi,

I am Thurmond Moore. I own a ranch in a very rural part of Texas with a lot of hunting (both vermin and game). My past jobs include 18 years in Semiconductor Fabrication and 12 years as the main Internet "Guru" at the Local Telco. I then retired to cattle ranching. I discovered PCP's in December and like most hobbies I get involved in I became totally immersed almost to the point of obsession spending many hours day and night researching my "new" hobby. Unfortunately I came here and caused a lot of trouble for Michael because of some misconceptions on my part and some less than best handling of my wants in my perception by those I complained about. I went off on a rant which is never good. I have apologized to Michael in PM but do it here now publicly.

Hi I,M Joe Solano. I live in Las Cruces, NM. I've always been fascinated with airguns since I was 10or so years old. My father bought me a Daisy 880, and , the Blue Streak was next. I worked my butt off throwing papers for that beautiful thing! I met a really nice man here in Las Cruces also into airguns while on the job doing my thing, pest control for a local pest control professional. He is also a member here and told me he hangs out here. It got really busy that day and I forgot to write his name and number down from the work order. Any way, I have a really nice collection of HW and RWS springers. Glad to be here with others who have a passion for airguns!

Noob here. Name's Scott. Not even a noob really. Don't even own an air gun yet. I had a bb gun when I was a kid though. %^)

Presently I'm lusting after an Impact but think it will be quite some time before they get that thing sorted. So I'm real close to pulling the trigger on a Wildcat order. So I probably won't be an actual noob for a few months at least.

I manage a 20k acre ranch in the SW corner of the Hill Country of Tejas. 4 large deer leases and we are covered up in every sort of indigenous and exotic wildlife there is. I shoot a lot of guns and reload for most of them. I'm a certifiable gun nut and air guns have me all a-twitter. Shame by the time I get one cowbirds will be gone but next year a bunch of those bastages are going to die.

Howdy raf,

Well, that's a lot of questions. Tejas is the slightly derogatory name for Texas. But descriptive. Of course we have the indigenous White-tails, turkeys, dove and in the late fall and early spring some ducks and geese come through as we have water. Texas is full of exotic species as for decades ranchers have imported everything under the sun and they have gotten out and about. We got dozens of indigenous species here. Search the web for Blue Indigo snakes for a interesting read. We got a bunch of them here. Big rattlers too but not as many now as in the old days before the pig population exploded.

A few weeks ago some Zebra showed up but may have moved on now. So much of what we call the Hill Country is taken up in deer leases so all that feed put out keeps a bunch of critters fat and happy. Oryx have wander through. We have a thriving elk herd. And we are ( broke down ) low fenced. They just like it here. My hunters take a few every year and the herd seems to be growing. We got lots of Axis ( fave prey of the Bengal Tiger in India ), Sika, Black Buck, Muflon sheep, Texas Dall sheep, Aoudad ( hate those ugly feeder destroying vermin ) etc. The we got coyotes, bobcat, the occasional Mountain Lion, We've caught a couple black bear on camera. They are protected here. We're waiting for jaguar to show up but not in any hurry.

Then there's pigs. We just came out the other end of a five year drought so the pig population is down compared to previous. We only kill 3 or 4 hundred of them a year now.

I load for .270, 45-70, 223, .308, .40 cal, three .45 cals, and will one day load for my .300 Blackout and maybe 9mm although may not as 9mm stays in the drawer most of the time. Have a cute 7.62 x 25 that I've gussied up but will probably never reload for. The 7.62 x 25 is a hoot to shoot. Punchy little bugger.

Cowbirds are critters from hell if you like song birds. We get strongly encouraged here in Texas to massacre as many as we can. On this ranch we trap them and wring their nasty little necks. We get credit for out wildlife tax exemption for doing this. These birds evolved to follow the buffalo herds back in the day. They lay their eggs in other birds nests and abandon them. The cow bird nestlings kill the song birds nestlings. So the cow bird is universally hated.

Nice yackin with ya. Sure we will do more.

We love song birds, so I understand hating cowbirds. 
I had a mountain lion as a pet, a while ago, got him at 8 weeks, abandoned. 
Great animal, gentle, except when eating. 
Friendly to everyone, unless you were afraid of big cats. 
Had baboons all sorts if monkeys.
no monkeys in Texas?
I am not a hunter, I only shoot at animals with my camera. 
Any elephants?
Jaguars are lethal hunters, beautiful cats. 
You certainly have a fine collection of powder burnerss. 
Just got a browning sa-22lr also, sweet.

Welcome Spyros to airgun nation. I would say you are off to a very good start posting what you have, it is very good quality, and content, so be encouraged. As for your English, do not worry about that you did fine. Most of us have trouble with it.
​Would you share with us what you may be hunting in your area? It would be of interest to many of us. I mostly shoot targets, but do get the occasional rabbit, hare, magpie and feral cat. I was fortunate enough to put some Red deer meat in the freezer 2 days ago, Brent who I was with was the shooter. It was the first time I had been way out back for quite a long time and it was a good test for me.
Keep up the good work there and enjoy your FX.

Hello to all,
My name is Shaun and I live in the UK on the very edge of a town named Northampton which is approximately 100Km directly north of London.
I have 3 further interests aside from my wife & children and they include astronomy, cross country cycling and the great outdoors / lone survival activity.
I have always had a keen interest in shooting and have owned several air rifles / pistols, my latest being a .22 FX Wildcat that I have owned for around 7 months and I must add it is most impressive.

Hi all,

my name is Asa, I'm based in the UK, grew up in London and Hampshire - always loved shooting, but gave it up to do "grown up things" only to return to it with a vengance about 7 years ago, and was blown away by the engineering advances and guns available. Got into HFT at Bisley Field Target Organisation and did ok but, marriage and first child came along in the last few years and not many targets or critters have been troubled by me for a while. I have also dabbled in .22lr target shooting but all got a bit too intense and time consuming amongst other things.

I would love to do nothing else but shoot, but that's not likely any time soon!

From way back I have my Air Arms Shamal .177 and an SE90 .22 (sidelever spring) both sub-12fpe, and since returning to the fold I have an HW100 with a GINB stock for HFT and some pest control, I am lucky enough to have a firearms licence and am between full power airguns at the moment having got rid of a problematic Theoben MFR (never again), and awaiting a brand new FX Royale 400 .22 (walnut, regged)!!!

I love Ted's videos and I think he is an all round top man, as well as being a superb (and modest) marksman. It therefore is no surprise to me that this forum has such a positive and inclusive vibe about it as it has come from the man himself, and I it seems clear that Michael means to continue it in that spirit - thank you guys.

AGN is awesome.

I look forward to learning and sharing with one and all.
