Is this advisable, and what size washers do I need? I recently replaced a broken main spring with a Vortek 12-ft lb kit and seals. It is still shooting a little slow. (10 fpe). Are washers my solution? Please let me know.
Some kits come with washers included so you could add or omit as needed for tuning. Not sure how many is too many, or how thick. If I can find mines at home, and actually remember to do it, I can measure them for you.
You could also call PA and ask. They probably can give you a better answer.
Some Vortek kits (I think the SHO kits) come with two power adjust washers included. I’ve used these washers to adjust power in my 12fpe kits too and each washer changes power by 1-2ft pounds. Best to just give Vortek a call and find out what they are using.
Update: Vortek assured me my kit had washer shims to make power adjustments -- but I must have lost them. Solution: purchased 10mm Hillman stainless steel washers at Lowes. They fit perfectly over the rod inside the piston where the spring seats. It took five of them to bring the gun from 10 ft. lbs to 12 ft. lbs. Now shooting JSB 10.3's at 725 fps with good accuracy. Cocking is fine.
18 julios
