we will meet again

This little dude was so hot, i was watering my lemon trees on the porch and he ran up and just laid on the cool wood. It dried up fast but the wood must of cooled off. Normally, I shoot the hell outta these things lol but I feel bad for them in this extreme heat.

Where's its tail? Looks to be in sad shape. I believe the only bad thing about them is digging & living under foundations. There's a %#*^load of them in The Promised Land State Park.

Try leaving peanuts for it & handfeeding eventually.

He might sit on your shoulder and be your new spotter lol.

Oh hes plenty healthy lol. He ran around like a little spaz. His tails flipped up on his back haha.

I love shooting rats and starlings and cowbirds. Rats need no explanation for killing. Starlings and cowbirds diminish songbird populations. But Chipmunks are just too darn cute to indiscriminately kill. There's just no need, Same for squirrels unless you are going to eat them or they are actually damaging your house. We use the term pesting all the time, but that's just an excuse in many cases.

I've been a hunter all my life, but killing for the sake of killing is not right. Glad you showed compassion, kudos.

Chipmunks are only a pest here when they eat your citrus off the tree lol other than that harmless. The ground squirrels on the other hand are a real pain. Very destructive. Ive actually had them in the house and come to find out they chewed and dug right through it and that gets expensive. My favorite to date was the bobcat kitten that came thru the dog door. I called my wife to yell about why she got a cat when im allergic lol. I gotta tell you, it was very tempting to keep it!!!

No chipmunks here, I sometimes wish we had them around. Plenty of squirrels, even some with a yellow tail, never saw them before this year. We put out cracked corn for birds and squirrels, my wife likes to watch them Our only problem is late winter when large flocks of blackbirds (red winged variety) and starlings arrive so have to curtail the food. Otherwise it is plenty of cardinals, blue jays who also like dog food, some red headed wookpeckers who also seem to like the corn, and an occasional crow, I have a little feeder hanging in a crepe myrtle and put dog food in it for raccoons and possums.

Some of the birds and squirrels are so used to me shooting that they will be there feeding as I shoot.

It all depends but any rodents won’t get a pass in my suburban backyard because it gets expensive quick! Just ask my neighbor who spend well north of $20k just fixing his roof. They might be cute to some people but they do a lot of damage. There isn’t enough space for humans and rodents at where I live, Literally every single one of the houses behind me have or had squirrel in attic plus other rodent problems, the roof repair people around here are very busy. Plus all of them are invasive to here anyways so zero tolerance policy is strictly enforced.
