A few days ago, I mentioned that me and my Marauder were becoming pretty good hunting partners. Well..the relationship just continues to grow. This afternoon we took a short ride to our favorite piece of land to do some marauding. What a wonderful day it was. Did I mention that it was a wonderful day? Rather than still hunting, we decided to see what we could "walk up." It paid off pretty well . We walked most of the afternoon and ended up with a successful raid.....I mean hunt. I did something a bit different today and am glad that I did. I brought along my range finder so that I could range the shots that I make out here. I normally don't do that...I just make shots and kinda guesstimate the range. We ended up leaving early with 4 bushy tails in the poke. All but three today were head shots...popped them in the head. One was a "shoot him however we can or he's gonna get away" type of shot. We couldn't let that happen............we are Marauders....(ya know). Anyway..........all shots taken today were 37 to 54 yards. I was able to attain those distances by range finding the tree that each squirrel fell by. The one that was not a head shot was at 42 yards. I'm a bit pleased with my new hunting partner. We aren't bench rest queens......we're a blue collar get it done kinda duo......... LOL.
Here are some pics from the day ...........visual aids, I guess you could say.............(I don't have video capability I don't think)
The terrain...
The game...
A couple of retrieved pellets...passed through the head and lodged in body....Air Arms Diabolo Field 16 gr.
All of the squirrels will take part in a feast.....no waste.
Thanks for looking.
