We can send a man to the moon. WHY CAN'T WE MAKE A SCOPE MAGNUM SPRINGER PROOF !

My ASP20 has devoured its first scope. A Hawke Airmax 3-9 40 AO. Shot fine yesterday but today cant get two shots to touch each other at 40ft. Going to call Hawke Friday. Very frustrating aspect of springer airguns. Want to be a millionaire ? Come up with a TRUE spring/gas piston airgun scope TRULY designed for a MAGNUM class airgun!

Talked more about my scope issue.

There are a couple . The Leupold 3-9 EFR ( basically most any Leupold will hold up ) The Nikon 3-9 EFR , Clearidge RM, and SWFA fixed power scopes . There are some others with good track record on Springer's ....Bushnell AR 2-7&3-9.... Aztec are magnum Springer rated . And a handful of others .

What SUX is very few if any truly budget scopes . The Bushnell AR scopes are bout best I've seen for like $100 give or take

I'm REALLY sorry to hear your AirMax died. I have one on a tuned 48 & it's lasted; but to know anything killed yours, sucks.

Joe, you mentioned a bunch of high end scopes, the one AR $100 jobby. What about classic UTG TS, the bug buster?

I've been wanting to get all scopes uniformed, and if a Hawke Air Max died, well, they have a lifetime warranty as I really don't want to spend as much as a SWFA 1/10 mil quad fixed 10X costs for as many guns as I already have let alone am now getting.

Big +1 for the clearidge RM !

19fpe HW80K in .22...

Awesome little scope!

My gas ram Benjamin just killed another scope. It was one of Joe’s favourites, a UTG. It had been one this rifle about a month prior to fitting the ZR mount. The damage must have been done earlier. Even on the ZR mount the scope slams back making a very audible sound on the shot cycle. Don’t know if this is normal or not but it doesn’t happen on my 22 Trail.

Im thinking of trading it in as I’ve had enough of buying and returning scopes at my expense. I’m going to give Lewiis’s mod a go first but this will have to wait until after x-mas. Surely if all these budget and not so budget scopes are failing on magnum springers with regular monotony it can’t be good for the bottom line of the company.

I will address all of your comments with this post. I had a Beeman Blue Ribbon 50R 2.5X that survived a R1, RX1, Theoben Scirocco Classic, and the Theoben Eliminator (Beeman Crow Magnum III). The Eliminator finally did the scope in with a broken crosshair. I replaced it with a Leupold 3--9 EFR which survived for the remaining time ( a few months ) I owned the gun. It seems to me that low and medium power springers don't have a lot of problems with scope killing. I just bought a UTG 3-9X40 1" Hunter Scope, AO, 36-color Mil-dot, w/ Rings for $63 on Amazon. I figured that the price didn't break the bank so why not try one. I sent the Hawke back today.

I'm try to understand how a scope mount that allows a scope to float back and forth can hold zero ?? Makes no sense to me. Even slightly being able to move the scope side to side can throw your POI off. I would want to see, before and after, shot groups before I would take the plunge and purchase a mount like that. Having to modify it tells me it's not all that great in the first place.

You don’t have to understand it for it to work. I’ll let Hectors National and World championships speak for the quality of the item. If he trusts it enough to use during FT competitions, then it’s more than good enough for my back yard plinking.
