Wheeler also make a "Fat Wrench" that goes well with these bits . It is a screwdriver style torque wrench for bits graduated in inch/lbs. If your going to work on guns , always use the correct size bit for the screw slot .

The proper sized bits are very important as to not damage various fasteners for sure. I have a couple of gun smithing bit sets that I have had for several years. But, I have only used very few of them. I would say, 6-8 different bits out of 50-75 of them. But....to make sure you get/have what you need, it is pretty much necessary to purchase a kit like that. It's very good to have if your ever gonna work on your guns at all.

I have this set plus a couple others that are made for guns. My dad bought me a small set back when I was 15 or so , like 43 years ago, because I wanted to work on my own guns. My first job was installing a Clark SS trigger in a Ruger MK1 pistol. Still have it. He always stressed to use the correct tool for the job. Whenever i get a gun to work on I buy the necessary tools or make them so next time I'll have what I need.

It's easy to spot the guys who use automotive tools to work on guns. Just look at all the buggerd up screws on their guns. I own multiple sets of drivers and bits made for guns (Brownell's and Chapman), and 2 torque screwdrivers (one a FAT wrench as the other did not go high enough), I only wish more manufacturers would give torque specs instead of saying "not too tight, tight, and real tight".

I find myself substituting torx or allen (socket head) screws for slotted or phillips screws

Always a good idea, IF you can find them. Be nice if it became the standard for all fasteners on airguns.

I have many tools from the farm but I use my Wheelers Fat wrench on my guns and man I wouldn't go back. Really nice for tightening things to specific torque settings. Guns are always put back together with same torque so no inconsistency there
