... War Declaration on Rodents ... 2021 Tacoma 4x4 Wiring Harness

Mike! That sucks! I golf with a guy who owned a Honda car dealership and he had rats do the same thing to his wire harness, they even set up a home inside in his engine bay with flowers, leaves….get’em get’em! Nice shot and video with your Taipan VL on that nutter!

Howdy. On the BrightSide... the Check Engine light was not a Toyota problem and the service advisor quickly (five minutes) determined the cause.

@flintsack
I bought two of the LED + squeaker ultrasound devices and have one installed under the hood of The Missus' car already and one waiting for the Tacoma.. Thank You Amazon.

@kinsqueak
I know what you are talking about and will make one or two of the bucket traps.

So Far:
bucket traps near cars (forthcoming)
electronic deterrent under hood
poison traps under hood
drier sheets
Czech and Slovenian pellet dispensers

This happens because manufacturers do not use virgin plastics for wire coverings. Recycled plastics ALL contain food molecules in sufficient quantities to activate a rodents hunger. I have OLD cars here on the ranch that have intact wiring after 70 years while newer vehicles made after recycling plastics began that have no wiring left untouched by rodents.

This is also a big issue for fiber optic cables in my area. The manufacturers need to use micro sponges filled with a predator scent incorporated into the jackets of the wiring / fiber to discourage the rodents gnawing.

My wife called me today while I was down hunting. It seems that the rodents have gotten to her electrical system in her Honda. It’s two years old. Complete rewiring. I guess we’re looking at a couple weeks, between parts and labor.

she’s been parking it outside for a few weeks…Not a good idea when it’s getting cold.

Mike,

Condolences to you and The Missus!!! That's effin sad and I'd reckon the war has either begun or escalated to NUCLEAR.

It hurts and I know it isn't cancer but it's stressful.
