want to regulate my Hercules Bully, just am not knowledgeable- need help

Need schooling on regulator set up and what’s proper. When purchasing a regulator, what is the advertised set point that I know would work on my gun? Altaros emailed me and said they have a regulator for my Hercules Bully that is capable to be set as high as 190 BAR, or 2800 psi. My rifle has a max fill pressure of 3600 psi. I have de tuned the velocities via the hammer spring down to 870 FPS at around 3000 psi. I only get around 16 decent shots, and I’d like to get more useable shots, at less erratic velocity spreads.

If if I fill the gun to 3600 psi, the groupings are unknown where they will land on the target till the pressure goes down to around 3100 psi, then the groups somewhat tighten up, but by then I only have a few shots left.

Is there a formula, or a rule of thumb on default regulator settings? Will this Altaros reg work in my gun? My rifle is a 30 caliber, using 44.75 grain pellets the majority of the time, if this helps.

thank you

You would be wasting your time trying to regulate the 30 cal. The Altaros regulator plenum is not large enough to retain power with a 30 cal. You can get a decent flat shot string by adjusting the hammer spring.

Thank you, BD. I know from reading your past posts you seem very knowledgeable on the Hatsan’s. Glad you piped in. Thank you.
